And to finish a good morning for GB (as well as Australia) , Abbie Wood second fastest into the 200 IM and looks a real medal chance 👍

That sounds about right to me. Of course, you can turn it round and say that 1 in 5 medallists are ranked outside the top 5. Not all rankings are the same as sometimes the top few are a long way ahead of the mass of the field and sometimes not. It would be a surprise for someone outside the top 5 to get a medal in either 400H for example.

I'm giving up on Taekwondo ! Walkden beaten by a head kick literally in the last second of her semi. ☹ That's three in a row like that ! Was a close fight : but she did seem to get the rough end of the refereeing - though I suppose that is my biased eyes...

Tearing myself away from Eurosport, I decided to see what the BBC Olympics coverage furore was all about. After an hour of the chat show, I was "treated" to the tie breaker of the Murray/Salisbury match which I'd watched live on Eurosport a good hour or so before.
The irony!
Just at that moment I received an alert updating the Liam Broady match. Broady had unexpectedly won the first set against Hurkacz. I'm rushing back to Eurosport as Bianca Walkden is being recycled, this time with Hazel Irvine.

I enjoy my martial arts - studied various in my time - but Taekwondo has served up a real treat. Mentioned earlier that 'game managment' needs to be looked at closely as it could have been two/three golds but for the marginal moments in the last seconds. I am really looking forward to watching the kata in the Karate, but it is very acquired veiwing, and I wont be urging my fellow forum users to stay up late for the Beebs non-coverage

It does seem to me, that, in taekwondo, it is common for scoring to alternate between each opponent with occasionally one getting 2 scores in close succession. It almost seems as though you don't want to be the one scoring about 30 seconds from the end.

Great comeback victory by the GB rugby 7's team, down 21-7 to USA in the first half, they went on to score 19 unanswered points to win a tense quarter final match and head to a semi-final showdown with New Zealand.

I'd say that Team GB can count themselves lucky, the game turned on USA going down to six players at just the right time.... Team GB were thrashed by Fiji, earlier this (our) morning ...

I don't dispute the yellow card, just remarking that up to that point USA were worth their lead, and this was the turning point of the match.

Great win for Broady. Taking his chance after his late call up very well. He's got Jeremy Chardy next, who is the classic French player - unbeatable one day, unwatchable the next. Definitely winnable.
Have to be honest, did NOT expect GB to win that 7s match, especially after how the first half went. Our 7s has gone backwards since Rio, they certainly weren't favoured to do much here. In a medal match though now, no matter what happens in the SF.

In the pool we are just up on medals at the same time as Rio. After day 3 we had 2 and now we have 3 medals but two are gold this time round. We are currently in 3rd place behind USA and Australia. This comes from a site monitoring the daily pool medals .
