Outright win in the 800 for Mills. A huge jump up the overall ranking to 6th (very nearly 5th) and a new HEP PB.

Excellent second day from Holly, Kat coasted in that 800 and her score isn’t great but she’s blasted off a lot of rust and there are some positives to take

Occasional Hope Oh, KJT sailed past the CWG standard. The English team target for that is 5850 points, and seeing as she is the defending Commonwealth champion, does the same principle as what works in the Worlds apply there too?
-
Yes, I got over excited for a moment, I did really know it wasn't that challenging! I don't think there's an automatic spot though, so the selectors could have a tricky choice ahead.

The standard for Europeans is quite tough, any remaining places will be filled with athletes from the world rankings as they will for the world championships

KJT must have been absolutely knackered come the 800 here, LOL. The 2-day stamina will be easier to get back than the old golden arm in the Jav
It is interesting to see which events moved up and down her strength table as she managed the different circumstances.

Personally, the event she really needs to tidy up at are the 100m hurdles and the high jump. If she can knock some time of the former and get back into at least the mid-1.80s in the latter, then I think the rest of events are looking in good form.

With Jade O'Dowda poised to smash her heptathlon PB, that means GB currently have 3 women who have (potentially) scored over 6100 points in the same year. Add Pawlett who is closing in on 5800 points and a new PB today, plus the unfortunately absent Jodie Smith and Ella Rush, and the strength in depth of women's multi events through the age groups continues to florish.

Looks like Abigail Pawlett finished in around 2:23 - 2:24 in the 800m, which would be a new PB in that event and a big points PB too. BTW, Eloise Hind is another to keep an eye on too.
Pawlett ended up with an 800m PB of 2:24.33, and a new points score PB of 5706.
Eloise Hind, after her 2:19.20 - a 3 second PB - she ends up with a lifetime best score of 5448, which also nets her the World U20 standard too! That's a 101 point improvement on her previous best!Last edited by RunUnlimited; 29-05-22, 16:48.

5361 for Chisom Nwafor. A massive PB (she got 4718 last year) and qualifies her for Euro u18s. Seren Rodgers also qualifies with 5233.Last edited by Occasional Hope; 29-05-22, 16:55.

6224 for O’Dowda
6260 for Mills
Emerson competes next week in Arona.
If KJT decides to do the hep in Birmingham who get the other two spots? Who’d be a selector?!

Is there time, though? I'd have thought they needed to name the teams before that.

Yes, checked the selection document, and Commonwealths selection for England is 13 June with final ratification following any appeals on 21 June. TBH I think they will pick Kat regardless, but someone else might well feel aggrieved.

In the U18 heptathlon, Chisom Nwafor took the title after coming 3rd in the 800m, running 2:28.33. That was her second fastest time over the distance and as a result, it pushed Nwafor to a final points total of 5361, well beyond the European U18 standard of 5200. That also puts the 16 year old, in her first ever heptathlon as an U18, into 2nd place on the UK's all time list for U17's, only bettered by a certain Morgan Lake's 5474 score from 2013.
The winner of that race, Seren Rodgers, 17, ran a nearly one second PB of 2:19.46 and her final score of 5233 points means that she also gains the standard for Jerusalem in July.
