In the men's decathlon in Bedford, Sam Talbot launches the discus to 41.76m, a massive 3 meter improvement. This follows a near-PB in the morning 110m hurdles.

Occasional Hope Harry Kendall then immediately followed that up with a PB of his own, over 42 meters.

In the senior heptalthlon, Jade O'Dowda opens up with a 6.29m effort in the long jump, just 5cm down on her PB if the wind is a legal one.

And then in round 3, O'Dowda goes even further, recording a distance of 6.34m which if wind legal, will represent an equalling of her PB.

Jade is on 3598 points now, well on track to not only a PB score and what she needs to gain CWG qualification (5850), but if she matches her javelin PB (42.63m - 2021) and her 800m PB (2:13.94 - 2021), then she could even get the 6250 point European Championship standard too.

Kat's marks don't look great on paper, but she's been getting better with every event in this competition. She's had two major injuries in the last couple of years, and for most athletes I'd say two months until Eugene is not enough to be competitive, but she will be a different athlete come the World Champs capable of 6600+ points.

Hopefully! At least she's looking fit and healthy.

Time now to reveal the newly reconstructed Jav technique, built from watching Spotakova and Yego on youtube, and channelling the primal scream of Goran Ivanisovic, but crucially also retaining the patented KJT listless-teenager vibe.
(Too bad I can't get past the ORF geoblock to see it!)

I can confirm this re Geo Blocking! I've turned off the Austria VPN on my firestick and cannot now watch the PV Decathlon. VPN back on and its back.

Jade O'Dowda launches the javelin to a big PB of 45.90m! She's starting to emerge as a real talent in the heptathlon.

Sammy Ball, besides a dodgy 400, is going really well. Lots of pb's, let's hope there's one in the javelin. He really doesn't seem to have any weaknesses. Since Daley, have there been any other 17 year olds to compare?

And he's only a 1st year u20, so presumably could have gone in the u18 competition here if he had wanted.

As he turns 18 in October, he's not eligible for the U18s.

O'Dowda now has 5335 points with just the 800m to go. She's pretty good over the two laps with a PB from last year's Euro U23s of 2:13.94, and if she was in the mood to try and break it, say, getting close to 2:10, then she has a chance for getting the World Championship standard of 6420, let alone the European Championship one of 6250 points.

It looks like GB have unearthed another heptathlon talent.

The Gotzis stream has gone down for me, anyone else having problems? There doesn’t appear to be a live tab, as there was earlier. Results page showing Holly ran a PB

While KJT managed a best of 2:19.34... possibly her slowest 800m in over a decade, if not ever.

BTW, in the U18s decathlon contest, Northern Ireland's Finn O'Neil is having a stormer... After the discus where he gained a 43.80m PB, he was over 600 points ahead of his nearest competitor, on 5089 points. The javelin has just finished and yet again O'Neil set a substantial lifetime best of 45.82m. He's well on course to sailing past the European U18 Championship standard for the decathlon (6900), and to setting a massive PB for points too. His current best points total is 6586 from earlier in the month.

And that run from Holly Mills not only gives her a new points PB of 6260, it also means that she's got both the CWG and European Championship standards (just! By 10 points) sorted!
