    British Athletics Championships 2021 Day 1

    Dear forum users - after overwhelming feedback (2 of 2) I have taken it upon myself to create a new topic for Day 1 chat ...

    Good luck to all the athletes . I hope the weather is favourable for some great performances.

          18:10 7 HIGH JUMP - DECATHLON - M 1 Unique Round
          18:55 8 400 METRES W 1 Heats
          19:25 9 400 METRES M 1 Heats
          19:55 10 1500 METRES M 1 Heats
          20:25 11 400 METRES - DECATHLON - M 1 Unique Round

          The Men's 1500m heats are going to be fairly brutal - 20 men under 3:40 this year, only 12 places in the final. Some bigger names are going to end up having a bit of a difficult time.

            Only the 13 men under 3:40 this year lining up, but that still means we will see a few surprises. I suspect one or two of the heats will be quick (if the wind plays ball...)

          What I don't understand with the scheduling here is why the organisers haven't got the track events starting sooner after the decathlon 100m has finished? Surely you can move the 400m hurdles up to start, say, 15 minutes after that multi event had finished.

            I think it is to keep it as an evening of athletics for those attending... and maybe it was meant to be on the BBC before things got undiplomatic.

          looking at w400 heats - Yasmin Liverpool in the first with Anning and Yeargin, first two to go through -could have been kinder for our Stew Coach ... Zoey Clark gets lane 8 with Jodie Williams and Diamond inside her, tough ... Pippi and Nielsen should come through from heat 3 ... that's my eight ...

            Oooof.... First heat of the 100m decathlon is won in 11.63.... with a -3.0 m/s headwind... Come on Manchester, don't do this now!

                Yeah, if you are accessing YT on Roku or Amazon, you usually have to exit the app & refresh to get back to the live stream.

                Agree about the wind - it’s routine in the minor US meets to swap the 100m between back & home straight to get the best conditions. Never seen it done chez nous.

                You should be able to rewind the stream about 15mins to catch the Decathlon 100m.

              Weather isn't terrible... the heavy rain from earlier has gone away, but the wind is annoyingly a head wind, and strong at that.
