In Steeple heat 1, a nice 8s PB and Olympic standard with 9:25 for Grayson Murphy, the 2019 World Mountain Running Champion. No surprises in the 5 auto qualifers.

Race of the year from Alyson Felix in the 400m - way back in 6th or 7th coming off the bend, recovered to 2nd. Also Gatlin pulled up, so at least one less feel-bad story.

The 39 year old Gatlin must have underdosed on the Sanatogen!

Kerley!!!! Wow, thats all I can say on that!

So pleased that Felix made the team as an individual, pure class and dedication

One does feel for Cunningham. She may well end up going but the moment has been taken from her.

Norman and Cherry look the best in the men's 400m. I think Felix will get top 3 in the women's but probably not win as Hayes & Jonathas looked good in the other semi. Felix's experience may be a factor too as she looked like she was perhaps conserving more energy knowing there was no rest day ahead of the final. Ellis who pipped her in her semi and the other semi all seemed to run hard.

I think with McNeal, USATF are probably worried about a law suit if she ends up getting cleared by CAS. Her situation is quite different from Houlihan's case which had already been to CAS. Her and Keni Harrison did look the best in the heats so McNeal could well finish top 3 which will be awkward, especially for the 4th place runner.
              All spot on predictions!!

Fastest man in the world won’t be in the Tokyo 100!!

Kenny Bednarek achieved the fastest mph of the field!

Both he and Kerley look like strong bets now for the 200m. Could Lyles fail to qualify? Laird has looked better than him all season but may have peaked a week or two ago.

if Lyles doesn’t finish top 3, he might even miss out on a relay squad place. 7th in the 100 isn’t normally good enough, is it?

Methinks Lyles has been injured at some point during the winter season and he hasn't looked right ever since. For a guy who has been touting himself as a star of both 100m and 200m to fill the gap left behind by Bolt's retirement, coming 7th in the US Trials 100m and missing out on the US team in that event is not exactly the way to accomplish that aim... especially coming behind one guy who is more of a 200m specialist and another who's more of a 400m/200m combo sprinter.

Definitely a bruise to Lyles' ego this defeat.

Interesting post-race interview with her. Nothing to worry about regarding her appeal because God's going to sort it out.

There were moments during all those interviews where I wondered if I'd tuned into a TV Evangelist Channel. It always strikes me that they affect humility by saying their victory was all down to God but really the subtext is pure arrogance -"I'm chosen by God , so I must be really special". Similarly, McNeal is saying that AIU can't judge her - only God.

                        Predictions for tomorrow?

I think Hoppel will miss out. Brazier first, Murphy second and Harris third.
                        W1500: 1) Purrier, 2) Hiltz, 3) Sinclaire.
                        W5000: 1) Cranny, 2) Schweizer, 3) Buchalski

God has a lot on his/her plate at the moment. I'm doubtful if s/he will have the time to sit on the CAS hearing panel.
