i do not buy the stuff about Scott did not need to go faster; he is a supposed top world 10K based on his results from Feb I think. He looked nothing special and if you had told him that he could not beat 27. 45 tonight I bet he would have not believed you.

Number 3 the sensible option; a great global record which will stand forever here; he has nowt to prove.

Claiming a niggle in his foot apparently. A sign he might try again?

Talking about track and field generally have you noticed that the standards of performances of the most populous country in Western Europe, Germany, has become really poor. Outside of Mihambo, Vetter and a couple of Discus throwers nothing else to talk about ; maybe Klosterhalfen, but i do not know what she is doing right now; could not see her name in this week ends German Champs.I cannot recall such lousy male athletes on the track of the Germans. Poland are now the Continental Europeans that are top dog.

I did make a post on the 2021 Outdoors thread talking about the paucity of German strength in men's middle distance running. A nation that had won European gold medals at 800m and 1500m, denying Seb Coe and Steve Ovett victories in events they were dominating at the time, can now only muster a grand total of 9 entrants for the 800m, and 14 for the 1500m. Meanwhile Great Britain already have 15 accepted invites for the 800m at the British Championships out a total of 30, and 72 invites for the 1500m.

Outside of the throws, Mihambo in the long jump, Klosterhalfen and Krause, and the multievents, there's a distinctive lack of overall strength in German athletics, which is most uncharacteristic.

If I recall correctly, their woman vaulter at the ETC only did 3.90. About 15 to 20 years ago in the relatively early days of the event you would expect the German representative to vault at least 50cm more than that.

Strangely enough the same paucity of talent applies to swimming if you look at the recent euro champs.

Well that was a terrible 800m race... Pacemaker was terrible, the racers themselves slowed down on the opening lap like morons... and then it just was downhill from there. What a mess.

No Olympic qualifying times in this one for the likes of Learmonth and Langford.

At the FBK Games, David King came sixth in the 110m hurdles, behind Omar Mcleod's 13.10, with 13.57

Good win from Jemma Reekie in the 800m that turned into a more tactical affair than one for findin qualifying times, 2:00.77 where the clock finished at. Laura Muir with a great finishing burst got past Renne Lamote and finished second with a 2:00.95 timing. Ellie Baker, was yet again denied the chance of a qualifying time in this slow-ish race but managed to finish 3rd

MHS is cooked... He's not going to be in shape for the Trials for sure.

No, he looks poor this year. Are we even going to bother with a men's 4x4?

Laviai looked better, but outside the standard.

Meanwhile, Lavia Nielsen was far more encouraging, with a 51.44 2nd place but a massively impressive final 70m charge that took her past Klaver on the line.

Judging by the way she closed in that race, I think she'll be getting the standard in the next couple of weeks.

Plus has it from 2019 so the conversation is kinda irrelevant.

Excellent win by Wightman. What happened to Grice there?
