Laura Weightman has announced her retirement due to injury. She is now a qualified coach and plans to continue in that side of the sport.

Yes, most seasons there are 2-6 throwers over 80m globally. I think a more realistic hope is that Miller and Campbell are back healthy again and that Ikeji develops consistency around 75-78m. Then we could have three 77m throwers.

THree 80 m throwers next year ? Which country has had 3 such throwers in recently in the same year. Dream on.

I wonder if Sally Gunnell [Mrs. Bigg] might be easing her back with 400h a long term plan? I can only think it positive to have such a legend in your corner and my hopes for Jemma Reekie have certainly risen now she is coached by Jon Bigg but with Gunnell's experience to draw on.

Potentially even competition for the team with Norris and Ikeji both improving.

Seren Rodgers, another promising heptathlete, hasn't competed since April 10th after setting several PBs indoors in the winter, and outdoors in that April appearance.
Still no sign of Ophelia Pye actually competing this year, but she's due to start at Harvard shortly and is listed on their athletics team for next year.

Wasnt sure where to put this piece of news, but this thread seems appropriate enough. Salma Celeste Paralluelo, who ran a 53s 400 indoors aged 15 and represented Spain at the 2019 Euro indoors, today scored the winning goal in a womens world cup quarter final. She is still a teenager.
