  • Did nt realise you were an intimate of his with your knowledge of his earnings et al. Where you related. If Elliot said you were quite right I would likely believe it, other wise your knowledge of how he he would have easily lived off his salary from working etc I take with a large dose of caution.

    • Getting this thread back on track, another what happened to...

Pippa Earley? She was a great multis and hurdles prospect, went off to a US uni in 2019, but hasn't competed since 2020 indoors.

      Covid? Injury?

I do think if you go to the US on an athletics scholarship and it doesn't work out it can sometimes be very difficult psychologically to continue or start again in the sport. An exception at the moment would appear to be Molly Caudery who has bounced back well from a disappointing spell in the US.

She has been ill for some years and is unlikely to return to athletics, sadly. A super age group talent.

That's sad news. I hope she has a good life.

    • I now read that your facts are not correct. The result which Elliot was most proud in his own words was at Seoul OG and his best, when he was still working at British Steel but had gone onto 4 hours a day. That would not have made him well paid, despite your comments.
Poor Elliot was shabbily treated by the powers that be and the media, I seem to recall.

      • Hello again, Sarah McDonald!

She's entered in the 800 at the England Athletics Championships this weekend in what will be her first race since that pretty disastrous 1500 heat at the British Championships 13 months ago (which in turn had been her first race in 21 months prior to that.)

Good to see. She's had a torrid time since narrowly missing qualifying for the final in Doha. And as a Birmingham lass probably a little bittersweet to not be competing at the Commonwealths

      • What's the situation with Dustin at the minute?

He was doing some LJs earlier this year, but below his best. Not sure what he plans now.

Thanks! I saw a few ljs but they seemed early

        • anyone have an update on Tom Mortimer - I had been keeping my eye on him since a good performance in the 5000 at the 2021 European Athletics Team Championships - Super League. It seems he hasn't run since the indoor season... injury?

I would say so. Good news is he posted a video on Instagram of him training in July

thanks, jjimbojames, I seem to be missing out on much info by not engaging in social media

            A waste in what sense?

        • Another query - Sam Brereton won HJ bronze at the Euro u20s in 2021, but didn't compete at all last year. Anyone know anything?

Also, would like to know how Tom Gale is progressing after his injuries have kept him out for what seems like ages.

I'm guessing injury has been hampering Brereton, while the continued absence of Tom Gale is now reaching worrying levels.

        • Toby Makoyawo will miss the rest of the season after rupturing a tendon in his hamstring. He's had a horrendous 12 months, hope in 24 he has better luck.

Goddamnit! This is the kind of injury trouble that can blight a career, even end it, before it's really had a chance to flourish.

Hopefully he'll make a full recovery.
