Did nt realise you were an intimate of his with your knowledge of his earnings et al. Where you related. If Elliot said you were quite right I would likely believe it, other wise your knowledge of how he he would have easily lived off his salary from working etc I take with a large dose of caution.

Getting this thread back on track, another what happened to...
Pippa Earley? She was a great multis and hurdles prospect, went off to a US uni in 2019, but hasn't competed since 2020 indoors.
Covid? Injury?Comment

I do think if you go to the US on an athletics scholarship and it doesn't work out it can sometimes be very difficult psychologically to continue or start again in the sport. An exception at the moment would appear to be Molly Caudery who has bounced back well from a disappointing spell in the US. -
She has been ill for some years and is unlikely to return to athletics, sadly. A super age group talent. -
That's sad news. I hope she has a good life.

I now read that your facts are not correct. The result which Elliot was most proud in his own words was at Seoul OG and his best, when he was still working at British Steel but had gone onto 4 hours a day. That would not have made him well paid, despite your comments.
Poor Elliot was shabbily treated by the powers that be and the media, I seem to recall.Comment

Hello again, Sarah McDonald!
She's entered in the 800 at the England Athletics Championships this weekend in what will be her first race since that pretty disastrous 1500 heat at the British Championships 13 months ago (which in turn had been her first race in 21 months prior to that.)Comment

anyone have an update on Tom Mortimer - I had been keeping my eye on him since a good performance in the 5000 at the 2021 European Athletics Team Championships - Super League. It seems he hasn't run since the indoor season... injury?Comment
-
Another query - Sam Brereton won HJ bronze at the Euro u20s in 2021, but didn't compete at all last year. Anyone know anything?
Also, would like to know how Tom Gale is progressing after his injuries have kept him out for what seems like ages.

Toby Makoyawo will miss the rest of the season after rupturing a tendon in his hamstring. He's had a horrendous 12 months, hope in 24 he has better luck.Comment

Just read that Harry Hughes has retired through injury. He actually posted that a few months ago so I’m seriously behind the 8 ball.
Shame as he was easily our spearist with the most potential in recent years. At least he managed to get an 80m PB to look back on.Comment

After watching Emily Newnham at BUCS run the fastest time by a UK U20 400m hurdler since Shona Richards set the UK U20 record in 2014, and folks on here (including me) have been excited about her future prospects, I've been reminded of another highly promising athlete in the same event who very much deserves mention on this thread.
Anybody remember Marcey Winter? I've been watching the 2019 Euro U20s in Boras and just saw the women's 400m hurdles semi finals and there was Winter, running confidently into the final battling a French runner Shana Grebo all the way to the line. Winter would go on to finish a creditable 6th place to set her PB of 58.16 behind certain Dutch runner who won gold you might have heard of... Femke Bol.
That run ranks 10th on the UK U20 all time list and suggested that Winter just might be another find for the UK. Shona Richards had unfortunately fallen foul of injuries and health problems post her UK record run at the 2014 World U20s and 2019 would turn out to be the last year Richards would compete on track, aged just 24.
But Marcey Winter, after coming 8th at the UK Championships and then running a 400m flat 56.96 to close out her season on August 30th, hasn't been seen on the athletics track since.
Not a single recorded performance.
And I'll add another one.... where the heck has Lucy Jane-Matthews gone?

Marcey Winter is at Bath Uni, and still seems to be involved with athletics there, but more on the coaching side. Perhaps injury has affected her? Plus of course there was covid.Comment

Do we know if Nick Miller is due to open his season soon? If the throwers haven’t started their seasons by now it’s not usually good… Haven’t seen much of Taylor Campbell either after injury put him out of action last year. His brother Bayley Campbell also hasn’t thrown yet this season.Comment
