Injuries. She'd been a regular competitor from her junior days, and she seemed to have made a breakthrough in the U23's after a couple of years in the 11.4/11.5 range, when in 2016 as a 22-year-old (following missing the whole 2015 season due to injury), she ran her 100 m PB of 11.27 (+1.6 m/s) in a semi-final heat at an Inter-counties meet in Bedford. However, she didn't run in the final.... and missed the rest of the season thereafter.

Over the next two years, Papps only made 4 total appearances in races.... and that was that. Just checked her Twitter page and the last entry was from August 11, 2018, along the lines of, "stanning" the Ingrebitsen's. Nothing since. She still titles the page with "GB athlete and full time dog owner". That's all the info there is.

I would refrain from describing her as "retired", since she still is only 26 years old.... but the signs aren't looking good so far.

Yep I remember her as a jr and a bit beyond but then nothing - both her Twitter and Instagram just stop in 2018!

There have been a bunch of athletes pulling out of events recently which have nothing to do with injury. Let's put the alarm bells away until we get any new info about what his situation is.

Also I guess I’ve been saying Giles should run less - I can’t complain either way!

Reviving this thread for a moment - with the season definitely under way there doesn't seem to be any sign of Lynsey Sharp coming back after having her baby despite still being on podium funding while not having competed since 2019.

On this Insta post from 7 weeks ago - https://www.instagram.com/p/Cb5DRANMMSd/ - she says she has races pencilled in.

A BMC Grand Prix might be the ideal kind of race to return with but she's not on the startlists for this Saturday's in Manchester.

        Well, that's something I suppose.

The other funded athlete we haven' seen yet this year is Tom Gale. I think he was pencilled in for Loughborough but didn't take part.

Emily Diamond is pregnant and won’t be running in 2022. I think we sometimes forget how much of a staple she has been in the relay and almost always performed better than expected with that baton in hand.

        Indeed. Very Lee McConnell!

Maybe outside the original intention of the thread but Poland's Sofia Ennaoui hasn't raced for 20 months.

However, she's entered in the 1500 in Ostrava on Tuesday!

Max Burgin also entered in the 800 after his no-show for the 'B' race at the Birminghma DL.

I won't be holding my breath tbh. It seems quite a high profile return...

One of our own, often maligned, forum users, Philipo, seems to be MIA - I think he had logging-on issues and created a new account... Well, just asking for a friend ...

Finette Agyapong, Euro U23 champ in the 200m back in 2017, has returned to action this season after not having competed since 2019! 11.58 over 100m and 23.42 into a -2.4 looks promising.

She was on a few 4x400m teams a few years, interesting to see whether that's also still in her plans. Best of 52.41 from 2017 over the distance.

I had been thinking about making an entry here about where Agyapong had disappeared to, so it's great to hear that she's back in action! I do wonder what kept her out of action for so long though.

The whole Covid/lockdown thing disrupted a lot of people's lives in 2020 onwards.

Blimey! Callum Hawkins is running right now in the BolderBoulder 10km in Colorado. It seems an age since he raced. I'll let you know how he gets on.

EDIT: Ah, I forgot he did run in the Olympic marathon (but DNF'd). He hasn't raced since.

Well, not great. The camera cut away from the finish just under 2 mins after winner Leonard Korir had come in at 29:26 (at 1600m altitude) and Callum still hadn't finished. So, no better than 31:20. Let's say it was a rustbuster!

Good to see Finette Agypong back running for the first time since 2019. Good U23 performances - 52.3 relay legs. This year 28/5 a 23 4 into a 2.4 headwind. with a legal positive maybe sub 23?
200/400 look to have even more depth
              Good to see her back!!

Tom Gale out for the season with a knee injury. Since jumping 2.30m at 18 he's had a tough time. I hope he can get back to the heights and making championship finals his talent deserves to be in.
