Hope they sort out that weird echo of the starting gun before the World Championships next year. I keep thinking it's a very quick recall gun for a false start. Maybe the athletes aren't hearing that down at track level?Comment

Its weird and amateurish to hear commentaries on races when on the screen the commentator is describing the races when you can see the results
The meet itself has been held in awfully cold conditions and Miller Uibo was outstanding but not her April best however.
Laura ran her season opener in typically brave, coureur de train manner.
The meet better improve its organisation a lot before the World champs, thats all i can say; the Stadium is nothing special considering its a World Champs venue. Barely covered,, with few seats; roll on the next Euro meet in some quality place. I always understood there were strict minimum seats to qualify to hold the WC which was more than 30,000 . The end which will hold the extra seats for the WC will have to be build quite high up to cover the numbers by my judgment
Reekie looked ok but not in her 1.57 2020 form yet;; a long way off in a slower time than the College gals .Adelle Tracy is not in her class but beat her in the sprint.
Sad we did not see the Hammer with a great throw by Winkler; you won't see the event in the Stadium , i hear next year.Comment

athlete; i am thinking the nonsense we have all seen at meets in the USA before.. Miramar was a recent perfect example in the short womens sprint when a clear as hell false start was waved up as a Green card.Comment

the one prediction about next years WC i will make, is that there will be some awful starting cock up waiting to happen because the Yanks don't understand that Green cards are not given for a glaring false start by one

Re the number of seats, I thought I'd read a while back that when they add the additional seating it will seat 30,000. I might be mis-remembering though ...
Finally, what did you mean in your earlier comment, "Its weird and amateurish to hear commentaries on races when on the screen the commentator is describing the races when you can see the results". I didn't catch your drift there.

On day 2 of the Multistars event in Lana, overnight leader Holly Mills records a 6.15m first attempt in the long jump.... Lets see if she now goes for a big one in round 2.
(Edit: Looks like Mills was unable to go beyond her openin effort in the end, and with Marta Koala's 6.42m effort in round 2, it looks like Mills' lead over the Burkina Faso athlete will be reduced... withh Koala having one more effort left too.)
(Edit: And just moments ago, Maria Vicente gets close to her PB (6.49) with a 6.41 that puts her right back into contention)Last edited by RunUnlimited; 25-04-21, 10:29.Comment

@caterhatch I wouldn't worry about Mills long jump.. Remember, this is her first long jump as part of a full heptathlon comp since Boras in 2019! And it's a multi event comp in late April, early in the season. If this trend was to continue for the rest of the season, *then* you can get worried! -
Thanks for the reassurance RunUnlimited, but i did notice these same sort of distances durng her indoor season and wondrered then if it was a case of having to make comprimises for the mutli events..... anyway, recall we talked about a threesome representing Team GB of KJT, Niamh Emerson and Holly Mills at a world event .. just saying. -
I believe she has changed take off leg

The UK women's 800m is going to be torrid this summer. A poster, above, commenting on the Eugene 800m says that Adel Tracy is not in Reekies' class. Well, we'll see what the summer brings. Indeed, in the Eugene 800m, if Adele hadn't got trapped in the inside lane, she would have won comfortably. Anyway, it's early says but trying to predict who our women's 800m team for the Olympics might be, would be a tricky task with so many youngsters who might make big progress, and more established runners not ready to give way to the younger brigade. Great stuff!Comment

*If* the big event gets the go ahead (the recent raising of Japan's Covid alert level to "high risk" again just 3 months before the Tokyo Games is putting things in some doubt again), then the women's 800m at the Olympic trials will be one of the most eagerly anticipated events to watch.Comment

It’s great that Adelle is getting into these races, as she needs more exposure to that type of race. Winning will have given her a huge confidence boost that she can push on. Agreed re picking a team...none of the women’s track events will be easy. I’d like to think we could have (at least) one finalist in every track event, which is a good start to then see the medals come.
I think Holly has been making some changes to her LJ, which has meant taking a step back but starting to come back up again. Once the other events get bedded in, I’d imagine we’d see more focus on it and a return to the 6.40m+ distances. I can see her putting together 13.1/1.85/14/23.8/6.40/35/2.10 in the not too far futureComment

Only around 30m in the javelin for Holly 9although reasonably on par for her), she's going to lose a lot of points to a number of her competitors there.Comment
