  • And I read a piece that said Kerr is leaving the States today. Not a good idea to leave a little late.

Agreed - I would definitely want to be in Japan at least 2 weeks beforehand, just in case.

I've found it baffling the different times the Brit team has gone out. I'd have assumed they'd have all had to be there the same time

  • As far as the 1500m mens is concerned, the event is a lottery and I've been wondering if Cole Hocker may surprise a few people for a medal even if the race is medium fast 3.33s

Young, no international experience, didn't have the qualifying standard - surely you wouldn't have even selected him, Philipo...

Obviously said in jest. I think he might find the step up quite tough, but his speed in the last 200m off a slower pace is pretty impressive.

  • I am giving him serious consideration after his win at the trials. The inclusion of cheruyiot and a Doha type pace is maybe against him.mustnt forget the Rio race 🤭

    • Well, that’s something I really didn’t want to read. RIP young lady.

Ajla Del Ponte gets in on the act too, with a 10.90 NR (+1.8), improving her Tokyo mark by 0.01.

          25 mins later Del Ponte ran a big 200m PB, 22.38 (+1.9).

          • Just seen the entry lists for Saturday's WACT Bronze meeting in Bern (SUI) - a very nice appetiser for the Eugene DL !

It is where the Young Boys of Bern play!

            • The young Botswanan Tebogo looked superb in his semi final today at the world U20s winning in 10.11

            • The International meeting in Schifflange (LUX) is always a pretty good little meeting and this Sunday's edition looks no exception.

There's a load of Brits competing, at least one in every track event except the W 100 & M 5000 (5 are entered in the M 400!) plus Charlie Myers & Jahisha Thomas in the LJ.

              Entry/start lists & Live Results at https://laportal.net/Competitions/Details/4841

Unfortunately this meeting has never been live streamed and I'm pretty sure it's never been broadcast live on Luxembourg TV.

              • The lineups look very strong for the Eugene Diamond League meeting, but blimey are they American-centric. The weather forecast looks pretty good

Just looked through them now - didn't seem that unusual to me. Most events have a solid international contingent in them. Given that Lausanne/Paris are only a few days later there's probably a few people who aren't there who might have been with a bigger gap but seems a solid lineup.

Solid Brit contingent for sure - Bradshaw, Muir, Lizzie Bird, Hodgkinson, Reekie, Dasher, Markovc, Scott, Heyward, Giles, Dustin and Archie Davis.

              • The Jamaican production line of female sprinters is showing no signs of stopping. Only just 17 yo Tina Clayton ran 11.09 to win the world juniors. Masilingi 2nd.

Watched the race. Clayton was phenomenal. Four-metre victory.

              • Torrential rain at the street (field events) meet in Poland has knocked the broadcast off-air! I think the events might have paused anyway for athlete safety.

Other than that it looks like a great event with a lively crowd right in the town centre.

                • 12.93 WJR for France's Sasha Zhoya in the hurdles at Nairobi. In the semi final, and knocking over at least three hurdles along the way. He should be seriously challenging the top senior athletes next year.
