Indeed.... I hate to say this but perhaps this injury might have also put paid to Taylor's career-long quest to better Edwards' 18.29m world record too? As determined as I'm sure Taylor will be to come back fighting fit, a ruptured achilles is a hell of injury to comeback from, doubly so in as punishing an event on the legs as the triple jump is. Plus Taylor isn't a spring chicken anymore either.

Well with this unfortunate news, the door is now wide open for the likes of eternal bridesmaid Will Claye, and for the new indoor world record holder, Zango.

    • The Dessau meeting is just starting. Beautiful TV-quality production with no geo-blocking.

It's a bit blowy there. I hope Alex Bell's hunt for the Olympic standard isn't thwarted again by the conditions!

      • Oh, they're not showing some of the track races if there's no big German names in them, focusing on the field events instead. They did this last year too. Very annoying!

Maybe just a temporary thing. They're showing track action again!

        So it’s kind of Bizarro-World Gaby? 🤣

          Yep!

Track events are 20 mins behind schedule but I'm still hopeful they'll show the W 800. G-F Krause was introduced as one of the meeting's stars even though it's not her event.

          • Ach, it wasn't worth the wait, LOL.

Alex Bell got herself boxed in most of the way and finished 4th in 2:02.04 (60-flat at the bell). Lamote won in 2:01.66.

            Vetter threw 93.20 though!

            • After a 2:05.x last weekend Shelayna Oskan-Clarke ran 2:04.00 for 7th place in New York last night, behind the winner Hassan, 2:01 and bits.

Jesus Tonatiu Lopez (MEX) continues to impress with his wicked kick, winner in 1:45.42.

Mary Cain (after hip surgery late last year) was a DNS in the 1500.

              • Someone I hadn’t heard of until a few weeks ago - Rasheed Broadbell has backed up his 13.15 with a 13.10 over 110 hurdles

Wow.... The first 23m sho put since Randy Barnes threw the current world record... and Crouser becomes just the 3rd man in history to go beyond 23 meters

                    • Another result that's passed folks by from yesterday.

Yulimar Rojas yet again threatens the long standing triple jump world record, improving on her own national and area record with a wind legal 15.43! She's now 2nd on the world all time list and a mere 7cm off Kravets mark, set at the 1995 World Championships.

                    • 19.93 for 2nd for Zharnel Hughes in the straight 200m race in Boston but Wayde Van Niekerk pulled up towards the end. Hope it's not too serious.

straight not curved;; a frigging silly meeting if you look at the irrelevance of the meet; at least it was not run on cobblestones.

                          • just seen the entrants for the Doha DL meet ; not quite as good as some years but tasty morsels none the less, especially the 400m hurdles and 400m.; shame that the 100m is without DAS; the race is more likely to be a true test of the top groupat the moment than that the ruined race on Sunday; i bet you will likely see a very different Richardson.
                            Glad to see Rowden is down on the start lists for 800m;

If Rowden turns up in 2021 like he ended 2020, then the UK Champs 800m is going to be an absolute bloodbath. Giles, Rowden, Webb, Burgin, Langford all have the standard (I assume Wightman will only run the 1500m), and there are enough 1:46 guys around that even making it out of the heat is not guaranteed.

In fact, there would be an argument that it could be the highest quality UK Champs race in history.
