Gudaf Tsegay just saying, "Bye Laura, catch me if you can!" About 59.6 for the first 400 for her!!! Astonishing stuff!

I should say so; a highest quality meet despite some disappointments; Giles looked in the pink right now; just has to keep up the good work for some months; a tough ask. The Ethiopians looked almost too good to be true; certainly going to give the Kenyans something to think about. Thought that Birgen and Barega would be better placed.
Wale must be thinking he is going to give the mighty Kenan steeplers something to think about, with Girma as well.
J. Ingebritsen was amazing , to have the confidence to go out and do the business in February, without giving a damn for the others. Langford ran his usual prattish race; our best guys are not out to play yet.
As far as LM is concerned; to me it is and has been for a while a strong feeling that Laura will miss the medals boat in Tokyo with the incredible standards in the 1500m; I fervently wish she would go to the 5000m sooner rather than later. She was mentally completely taken out by the crazy being the right pace for the Tsegay who gave a warning last year.
Two victories for HB in a row ,excellent , but a 4.90 in your bag is needed for a top 3 or 4, methinks.
Reekie is getting better but too early in the year for serious thoughts about her chances, when so many athletes will not appear outdoors till June.
A world record, a barely missed Wr and a European indoors best and 2 tenths of Colin Jacksons WR after sitting around forever.

Glad to see Lucky brings some proper perspective re the top performances tonight , compared to the comments or lack thereof by posters on the vastly over rated American T&F News site, which usually can'just about notice anything but their own US athletes performances.
. Serious fans would give proper admiration and regard to the the performances of others like the great race tonight by Ingebritsen which I put second to Tsegay; he ran solo when he needed to and got hardly a mention compared to Grant Holloway comments.

Laura has thus far been unfortunate that she's been competing in the event that has, for the last 5 or 6 years, consistently been the deepest (crazy deep!) event in athletics (men or women's). One could argue, however, that had she been born earlier and instead been at her peak about 10 years ago when, for 2 or 3 seasons, the top women struggled to break 4 minutes, she might never have been pushed to be as fast as she is.

It certainly wouldn't hurt to start exploring the 5000 more, though it's worth at least one more shot at the 1500 in Tokyo.

Fascinating 3000 and what a run by Wale.

What happened with Girma, leading at the bell? He appeared to move over for Wale and then seemed to have some sort of temporary spasm about 20 metres later. A bit reminiscent of Cheptegei at the 2017 World XC though that was much more prolonged through to the finish whereas Girma was able to recover and still run a great time.

I wonder if either Wale or Girma could be the one to take down Shaheen's long-standing WR in the Steeple? Having mid-7:20 pace on the flat should certainly help you run 7:53 over the barriers. It would be a bit of a turn up for the books given that, until the last couple of years, Ethiopia have rarely ever been a major force in the men's Steeple.
