  • Live streams/broadcasts for Saturday 4th February to Sunday 5th February:

Thank you trevorp and CAML for your kind words. I've been doing the Live Streaming Links for close to 6 years now - I don't know the exact start date because the old AW forum disappeared into the ether but I think it was around March 2017. I know that the amount of live streamed athletics watched by people here varies a lot and there will be some events that only I watch (sometimes not even me - there's only so many hours in the day!) However, even if people don't watch a lot, I think it might help them keep tabs on what's going on and who's competing where, perhaps motivating them to seek out results ('motivating' is probably the wrong word). And, maybe, they've also learned the names of a few more Spanish XC runners and Japanese distance athletes!

Anyway, on to a packed weekend of live streams with several very good indoor meetings, 3 good international cross country meetings and a couple of top road races from Japan ...

European Athletics are really spoiling us this weekend with 3 English commentary events on YouTube - the Silver & Bronze meetings in Val-de-Reuil and Ghent and also the European Champion Clubs Cup Cross Country.

Sadly, not live streaming, it seems, are 2 pretty loaded road races in Spain - the 10K Donostia Gimnástica de Ulía and the International Half Marathon of Granollers, Les Franqueses & La Garriga.

The Indoor Combined Events Tallinn meeting is behind a paywall but I think there's probably less UK interest in that now because Sam Talbot, Niamh Emerson & Kate O'Connor have all withdrawn. Therefore, I haven't listed it in the document.

The Balkan U20 Indoor Championships were due to be held on Sunday. However, a few weeks ago the Serbian Athletics Federation pulled out of hosting it due to financial difficulties and it was too late to arrange an alternative venue.

    Saturday to Sunday
    • Japan Indoor Meet in Osaka (U20, U18 & U16) & Japanese Senior Championships (Osaka, JPN) - Just 60, 60H & jumps; There's very, very few indoor meetings in Japan but for the senior championships these are strong fields, especially on the track, with hardly any of their best missing (a few are currently in Europe preparing for the Asian Indoor Championships next weekend). The depth of the fields is quite impressive at the "Japanese level". The fields look good for the age group events too
    • Italian U23 & U20 Indoor Championships (Ancona, ITA) - There's some good fields here and it's hard to pick some stand-out events but the U23 Men's 400 looks good with several athletes at 47.0 or faster; The Previews linked in the document do a pretty good job of picking out the highlights
    • Spanish U23 Indoor Championships (Antequera, ESP) - There's some competitive looking fields here but perhaps not quite of the overall quality of the Italian U23 fields above. One of the expected stars is 1:46.9/3:39.5 man Mohamed Attaoui who goes in the 1500
    Saturday
    • Lagos City Marathon (Lagos, NGR) - WA Gold Label race; No idea who's competing here but 76 (!) international athletes have been invited and it is usually a good quality race
    • Sirikwa Cross Country Classic (Eldoret, KEN) - World Cross Country Tour Gold meeting; There's strong fields here including Faith Kipyegon, Irene Cheptai, the Chepkirui's Sheila and Purity, Naomi Chepngeno, Rose Chelimo and in the Men's race, World 10,000m silver medalist Stanley Waithaka Mburu, Nicholas Kipkorir (I think it's the one AKA Kimeli) Merhawi Mebrahtu (ERI), Benson Kiplagat & Amos Serem as well as the top 3 from the recent Kenyan national championships. Interesting European entrants include Marusa Mismas, Alexandru Soare (ROU), Sondre Moen & Johannes Motschmann (GER)
    • Hustopečské skákání (Hustopeče, CZE) - World Indoor Tour Silver meeting; International High Jump meeting; This is pretty loaded! Amongst the athletes competing are Patterson, Vukovic, Gerashchenko, Lake & Zialor and in the Men's, Woo, Starc, Kerr, Zayas & Gasch
    • ORLEN Cup Łódź (Łódź, POL) - World Indoor Tour Bronze meeting; 60, 60H & field; Annoyingly the entry lists have disappeared pending the publication of startlists but from what I recall of a brief glance they looked quite good. Home stars like Ewa Swoboda & Skrzy are competing as well as Marcel Jacobs and the Men's PV is quite strong
    • Meeting de l'Eure (Val-de-Reuil, FRA) - World Indoor Tour Silver meeting; This looks like a super meeting with a number of excellent fields and several big names competing such as Mahuchikh, PML, Katir, Welteji & Murto. There's 6 Brits slated to compete including Gemili, Copeland (vs Katir in a strong 1500 field) & Markovc (3000 vs Welteji & Klein)
    • IFAM Gent Indoor (Ghent, BEL) - World Indoor Tour Bronze meeting; There's good fields in nearly every event here with some very international line-ups (including a number of my Japanese friends!) It's hard to pick the stand-out events but there's a lot of very good athletes competing. There's 15 Brits due to line up including Prescod, Coppell, Laviai Nielsen, and Wallace & Reardon in some good 800s
    • New Balance Indoor Grand Prix (Boston, MA, USA) - World Indoor Tour Gold meeting; I'm excited to see Our Laura making her seasonal debut in the 3000. Is 8:25 too much to hope for?
    • Camel City Elite (Winston-Salem, NC, USA) - 800, Mile & 3000; This meeting had it's heyday for a couple of years. A bit surprising when, at $6,000, the winning prize money is better than a Gold meeting but, I suppose, it doesn't carry many ranking points; Anyway, this year the fields are solid but without having any real big star names
    Sunday
    • Kagawa Marugame International Half Marathon (Marugame, JPN) - WA Elite Label race; Whilst the international depth in the Men's race is slim (Rayner & Mutiso) there's a good Women's field lined up with Nancy Jelagat, Pauline Kamulu, Purdue, Batt-Doyle (AUS), Diver & Sarah Pagano (USA) included. The domestic entry in this race is always pretty strong on both sides and this year it includes the evergreen Yuki Kawauchi. It's a fast course with Aussie Men's & Korean Women's national records set here in 2020
    • Beppu-Ōita Mainichi Marathon (Beppu to Ōita, JPN) - WA Elite Label race; International Men's marathon; Another good field here for this old race with 9 sub-2:08 men from Kenya, Morocco, Djibouti & Japan and a further 7 sub-2:10 men. It's another very important race for the Japanese athletes hoping to qualify for the MGC (their Olympic Trials) and maybe even hit the Japanese standard for Budapest Worlds set at 2:07:39
    • European Champion Clubs Cup Cross Country (Oropesa del Mar, ESP) - There's good races on tap here with a lot of very good athletes, for example, Amebaw, Machado, Fancy Cherono & Meselu Berhe in the Women's and Kwizera, Oscar Chelimo, Vincent Rono, Italo Quazzola & Efrem Gidey (IRL) in the Men's. Added to that Spain have 4 clubs entered (?!) in the Women's race and a lot of their top athletes are competing such as Sanchez-Escribano, Robles, Barreiro, Marques, Naima Ait Alibou & Tarraga. Aimee Pratt is also running, now competing in the green & white hoops of Sporting Club de Portugal (Lisbon). They've got a pretty good team. The Mixed Relay also includes some very good athletes such as Winnie Nanyondo
    • Gran Premio Cáceres Cross Country (Calzadilla, ESP) - World Cross Country Tour Gold meeting; Not the strongest of fields here, no doubt suffering from the clash with the ECCCC above. With Yann Schrub & Isaac Kimeli in the Men's race there definitely seems to be an effort by some Europeans to use the Cross Country World Rankings as a route into the 10,000m at Worlds. A good thing if it gets more athletes competing regularly in Cross Country! The Women's race is decent without having any really big names although there are a couple of top Spaniards competing in Laura Luengo & Cristina Ruiz. This may be the last of the Spanish meetings on this season's World XC Tour but there should be at least one more good meeting from Spain on the streams at the end of the month
    • Rochlitz Shot Put Meeting (Rochlitz, GER) - World Indoor Tour Challenger meeting; Not super-deep fields here, headed by Dongmo & Gambetta in the Women's and Weir & Abdelrahman (BRN) in the Men's
    • RIG Games AKA Reykjavik International Games (Reykjavik, ISL) - World Indoor Tour Challenger meeting; As in years past England has sent a team to compete here that this weekend includes Lee Thompson, Dan Putman, Alexander Farquharson & Jessica Tappin. There's the occasional other non-Scandi athlete competing such as Naomi Sedney in the 60 & 200 and Chase Ealey. With the inclusion of a lot of domestic athletes the level of ability top to bottom in some fields varies a lot

Have you a special connection ??
Ha, I'm not sure the bit in bold is true but thanks anyway! Ask me about Japanese 400m running or shot putting and my knowledge is pretty basic. Because the on-demand streams I watch are often long, I usually skip through them to just watch the mid-distance and long-distance races. I'd like to try to improve that other knowledge though.

No, I have no prior connection to Japan at all but there's a few reasons why I've become such a big fan of Japanese distance running:

    a) There's a ton of Japanese track & field and road racing on the live streams and I'm the kind of fan who needs to watch a lot of athletics to be engaged. Most of it's on YouTube or national TV and there's a really good site for the latter, so it's all easy to watch. I need to see faces and get to know the athletes a bit. I can't do that by mainly reading results.

    b) Related to that, the coverage of big road races and Ekidens on national TV is brilliant - "next level" stuff - just a pleasure to watch. Every country should copy how Japanese TV covers road racing!

    c) I love athletes who race a lot and many Japanese distance runners do just that. It's not uncommon for them to run say six 5000s and 4 or 5 10,000s a year, especially those at their "B" level, e.g., 31-high female 10,000 runners. I don't find it easy to be a big fan of athletes who hardly ever race (with a few exceptions like Kipchoge). I need to see them in action quite regularly.

    d) I'm fascinated by the Ekiden culture ... the tradition, the honour of competing for your team and that everyone gives their absolute all to it no matter whether their team is lying first or last. Pretty much all their best distance runners run at least one Ekiden a year. In what other country does/would that happen in road relays? It used to in Britain 40 years ago but not now.

    e) There's a lot of depth and so a ton of athletes to follow. And they have a surfeit of young talent at the moment. Some is already established like Ryuji Miura, Nozomi Tanaka, Ririka Hironaka, Seira Fuwa & Kaede Hagitani but there's also a load of very good 17-19 year olds at the moment - e.g., Keita Satoh & Hiroto Yoshioka (both 13:23 for 5000 at 18yo) and, on the Women's side, Kokone Sugimori & Haruka Kokai - just turned 20 the latter is poised, I think, for a good breakthrough on the track after some excellent recent Ekiden legs.

    • Live streams/broadcasts for Tuesday 7th February to Thursday 9th February:

As I said last time, I'm posting this now because I'm away from Monday morning until Thursday afternoon.

Where there's detail missing in the document I've indicated where you'll find it in due course - whilst I'm away I may or may not have time to update the document with the actual details.

Thursday's Tampere Indoor Meeting (Bronze) is being live streamed but for a hefty price (9.90 Euros) so I haven't listed it in the document. However, in the comments below I have posted the entry lists for your interest.

      Tuesday
      • Beskydská laťka (Třinec, CZE) - World Indoor Tour Silver meeting; International High Jump meeting; Pretty good fields it seems. The headline athletes teased by the meeting website are Gerashchenko, Vukovic & Tabashnyk in the Women's and Zayas, Rivera & Moura in the Men's
      Wednesday
      • Copernicus Cup (Toruń, POL) - World Indoor Tour Gold meeting
      • Mondeville Meeting (Mondeville, FRA) - World Indoor Tour Silver meeting; Live on YouTube with English commentary; If most of the entry list turn up this will be another strong Silver meeting in France. Pretty much right across the board the fields look very nice. In particular, the Women's 1500 looks very interesting and could be fast with the 3 Ethiopians running. A total of 10 Brits are entered
      Thursday
      • Victorian Milers Club Meet 4 (Aberfeldie, VIC, AUS) - John Higham 800m & Mile incl Victorian Mile Championships; No idea who's competing here yet. The Vic Milers meets have yet to really take off this season with the big Aussie names keeping their powder dry so far. Perhaps that will start to change with these 800s and the Vic Mile Championships which usually attract good domestic fields
      • Udin Jump Development (Udine, ITA) - International High Jump meeting; In both the Women's & Men's field there's 2 of the headline athletes I listed above for Tuesday's Třinec meeting and added to them here are, amongst others, Patterson & Vallortigara in the Women's and Protsenko, Fassinotti & promising youngster Sandro Tomassini (SLO) in the Men's

Next major post on Thursday evening for Friday's streams - the ISTAF Indoor Berlin meeting and the start of both the Asian Indoor Championships (KAZ) and the Polish U20 & U18 Indoor Championships.

    • Live streams/broadcasts for Friday 10th February:

      Friday to Sunday
      • Asian Indoor Championships (Astana, KAZ) - I'm looking forward to this! I'm pretty sure it's the first time these championships have been live streamed. So far only the startlists for Day 1 are out but there's some quite good fields, e.g., with five 8m men in the LJ and four 800m men at 1:46.3 or faster. In the Women's 3000 Ririka Hironaka (JPN) has a tough race because Norah Jeruto & Caroline Kipkirui are being wheeled out for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan
      • Polish U20 & U18 Indoor Championships (Rzeszów, POL) - There's some very good athletes competing here including big 16yo talent Zuzanna Wiernicka in the U18 2000m. She's already run sub-6:00 indoors for the distance
      Friday
      • ISTAF Indoor (Berlin, GER) - World Indoor Tour Silver meeting; 60, 60H & Jumps; This is quite loaded. The Women's LJ features the first 4 from Munich 2022 along with Iapichino. Amongst others competing are Duplantis, Britany Anderson & Luckenkemper. There's 6 Brits due to line up - Sawyers, Neita, Prescod, Azu, Philip & King
All the details and links at https://www.dropbox.com/s/f9bc0dwrvr...02-10.odt?dl=0

Next major post on Friday (tomorrow) evening for the weekend's live streaming including the Millrose Games, the meetings in Metz & Paris (both Silver), the Dortmund meeting (Bronze), the Nordic Indoor Match, the Dubai Marathon, Cross della Vallagarina (Bronze), the England Athletics U20, U17 & U15 Indoor Championships and the Adelaide Track Classic.

    • Live streams/broadcasts for Saturday 11th February to Sunday 12th February:

The Balkan Indoor Championships were due to be held in Istanbul on Saturday but have been cancelled because of the earthquakes.

      Saturday to Sunday
      • Ongoing Asian Indoor Championships (Astana, KAZ) - See 2 posts above
      • Ongoing Polish U20 & U18 Indoor Championships (Rzeszów, POL) - See 2 posts above
      • England Athletics U20, U17 & U15 Indoor Championships (Sheffield, GBR) - There are others here who are far more qualified than me to comment on this so if anyone wants to leave some teaser notes in the comments below, please feel free! Otherwise, there's a decent Preview article linked in the document
      • French U23 & National Indoor Championships (Miramas, FRA) - Well this is a bit confusing! These are not the main French indoor championships (they're next weekend) but instead there's 2 categories competing here - U23 and National, the latter all ages and open too, accepting international entrants. Maybe the "National" events are for athletes who didn't make the cut for next weekend's championships?? Anyway, there's too much going on for me to get my head around but the overall quality in the U23s is kind of what you'd expect for a French U23 Championships!
      Saturday
      • Porritt Classic (Hamilton, NZL) - Outdoor meeting; Not the deepest of the Kiwi meetings but there's still a number of good athletes dotted around the events. The Women's 1500 looks good with Rebekah Greene, Angie Petty, Laura Nagel and, returning after childbirth, Camille French (nee Buscomb)
      • Riyadh Marathon (Riyadh, Saudi Arabia) - WA Elite Label race; I've no idea who's competing but I think the fields will be good. The first edition last year was won in 2:06 and 2:26, the Women's race by Tadu Teshome who has since run 2:17; Last year's stream had English commentary
      • New South Wales State 5000m Championships (Sydney, NSW, AUS) - with various supporting events; Holly Campbell will be a hot favourite for the Women's title but the Men's race looks more competitive and includes St Lawrence & De Canto; In the supporting races there's some good names in the 400s (Cowie, Thornton & Halpin) and the Women's 800 'A' race inlcudes Georgia Wassell and Davina Smith
      • Adelaide Invitational (Adelaide, SA, AUS) - WA Contintental Tour Challenger meeting; There's a some pretty good fields here with a number of internationals supplementing the Aussie entry, e.g., from Japan, Canada, the USA & Britain. Standout events include the 100s, the Women's 800 including Griffith, Billings, Sanford, Mehra (USA) & Keely Small, and the Men's 800 including Matt Centrowitz in the first of 3 Aussie races along with Perrott, Lunn, Mathas (NZL) & Micallef. The Women's Steeple field is small but good, including Winkcup, Erbacher & Japanese collegiate record holder Reimi Yoshimura
      • Meeting Metz Moselle Athlelor (Metz, FRA) - World Indoor Tour Silver meeting; This is loaded! The big headline names are probably Bol (both 200 & 400), Mahuchikh & Kendricks but everywhere you look there's quality. I could list names but I'd feel bad leaving out a lot of very, very good athletes! Just 2 Brits competing here - Copeland (1500) & Rowe (3000)
      • Copa Iberdrola - Women's Spanish Club Indoor Championships (Ourense, ESP) - There's a good number of quite strong athletes competing here, the likes of Jael Bestue (60), Solange Pereira (1500), Xenia Benach (60H) and Jennifer Rodriguez (COL; High Jump)
      • Copa Joma - Men's Spanish Club Indoor Championships (Ourense, ESP) - Likewise for the Men's equivalent here with athletes such as Lucas Bua (400), Pablo Sanchez-Valledares (800), Enrique Llopis (60H) & Carlos Tobalina (SP)
      • Meeting de Paris Indoor (Paris, FRA) - World Indoor Tour Silver meeting; 60, 60H & Jumps; There's some loaded fields here, especially for both the 60 Hurdles. The Women's event seems quite hot right now and here it includes Samba-Mayela, Hurske, Alaysha Johnson, Visser & Kambundji
      • Millrose Games (New York, USA) - World Indoor Tour Gold meeting
      Sunday
      • Dubai Marathon (Dubai, UAE) - WA Gold Label race; Great to see Dubai back! As usual it's Ethiopian-heavy including Gelete Burka & Ruti Aga and on the Men's side, Tsegaye Mekonnen, Abera Kuma and Fikre Bekele who has won 5 of his 6 marathons; Hutchings and Paula are doing comms
      • Wakayama Prefecture Inter-Municipal Junior Ekiden (Wakayama, JPN) - This is 10 legs totalling 21.1km for high school boys & girls down to upper primary aged athletes; Other than that I don't know a lot about this race; The winning time in the last edition (2021) was 67:27 with 6 teams inside 70:40 so it looks to be a pretty good quality race given the age of the participants
      • Kumanichi Ekiden (Amakusa to Kumamoto, JPN) - Men's & high school boys Ekiden; Again another new one to me but the winning times for the 103.3km total suggest it's decent quality (usually around 5:23 to 5:33)
      • Japanese Corporate Half Marathon Championships (Yamaguchi, JPN) - M & W Half Marathon & W 10km; Another super-deep Men's Half in Japan ... Hey, what's new! I wonder if the Japanese will be inspired by last week's Marugame Half to again give the NR a scare (it's 60:00). Andrew Lorot (KEN) was 3rd last week running 59-high. He's down to compete here as well. The Women's field, as usual, doesn't have the depth of the Men's but there's still a good number of good athletes lining up - 8 of them have sub-71 PBs including Chikako Mori & Wakana Itsuki. Further down the list Kaede Hagitani (14:59/31:35 PBs) is making her HM debut alongside a couple of other interesting debutantes
      • Nordic Indoor Match AKA Nordkampen (Karlstad, SWE) - SWE vs FIN vs NOR vs DEN/ISL; World Indoor Tour Challenger meeting; Quite a lot of Scandinavia's best are turning out here, e.g. in the 400 there's Bengstrom & Vedel and in the Women's 800, Hedda Hynne & Wilma Nielsen
      • Indoor Meeting Dortmund (Dortmund, GER) - World Indoor Tour Bronze meeting; There's some good fields here, especially I think on the Women's side. There's several Brits competing including Ama Pipi in the 400 with Swiety-Ersetic. The W 1500 is another good-looking race with Josephine Chelangat, Maki, Ellie Baker, Galant, Marusa Mismas & Hermansson
      • Nobeoka West Japan Marathon (Nobeoka, JPN) - The Elite race is Men's only; The field is headlined by Kenta Murayama (2:08-high PB) and also features a few 62 min Half guys making their debuts. It's an important race because it potentially contributes to qualifying for the MGC in October (their Olympic trials)
      • Cross della Vallagarina (Rovereto, ITA) - World Cross Country Tour Bronze meeting; The fields are good without being stellar. In the Women's there's Niyomukunzi (BDI), Amebaw (ETH), Elena Burkard, Giovanna Selva, Gaia Colli, Rebecca Lonedo and very interestingly, Harumi Okamoto (JPN; 15:20 / 31:28 PBs). The Men's field features a bunch of Burundians including Irabaruta as well as Neka Crippa and Spain's Victor Ruiz (8:16 Steepler)

      • Live streams/broadcasts for Tuesday 14th February to Wednesday 15th February:

Both the Banská Bystrica and Belgrade meetings are live on the European Athletics YouTube channel, so will have English commentary.

        Tuesday to Wednesday
        • Indian Open Race Walking Championships (Ranchi, IND) - India is a gradually rising force in Race Walking and the entry of over 200 athletes in the 6 races reflects this. These championships feature pretty much all their best walkers such as Priyanka Goswami & Bhawna Jat in the Women's 20km and Sandep Kumar & 2021 World U20 silver medalist Amit Khatri in the Men's 20km. There are also 35km races and 10km for the U20s
        Tuesday
        • Banskobystrická latka (Banská Bystrica, SVK) - World Indoor Tour Silver meeting; International High Jump meeting; Probably the best High Jump fields of the indoor season so far. In the Women's comp Mahuchikh & Patterson face off and that field also includes Vukovic, Tabashnyk & super 18yo Karmen Bruus (EST). The Men's comp includes Starc, Kerr, Protsenko & Zayas
        Wednesday
        • Meeting Hauts-de-France Pas-de-Calais (Liévin, FRA) - World Indoor Tour Gold meeting; Without a doubt, the best indoor meeting so far this year!
        • Belgrade Indoor Meeting (Belgrade, SRB) - World Indoor Tour Silver meeting; There's no entry lists at the time of writing but amongst the athletes confirmed are Dina Asher-Smith, Kayla White (both 60), Britany Anderson, Mario Burke, Angelina Topić and a strong Men's Shot Put field

      • Live streams/broadcasts for events starting on Friday 17th February:

For the national championships events this weekend I'm not providing any teaser notes because you probably already know what you're getting with each one.

Last time I promised you the Swedish Indoor Championships not realising at the time that they're not on Swedish TV this year. Instead they're subscription/pay-per-view on the Swedish Federation's streaming service.

Re the USA Indoor Championships that start today, there's no TV coverage for that but on the weekend's document I will link to videos of the track finals.

Finally, I've decided to spare you the test of viewing endurance that is the Gunichi City Round-the-Country Ekiden, a 3 day Ekiden totalling 272.9km! And, TBH, the previous live stream coverage hasn't been great.

        Friday to Sunday
        • Ukrainian Indoor Championships (Kyiv, UKR) - It's amazing that since last summer there's been competitions going on in the West of the country even though that area has been far from immune from Putin's missiles

        • Live streams/broadcasts for Saturday 18th February to Sunday 19th February:

          Saturday to Sunday
          • ? Ongoing Ukrainian Indoor Championships (Kyiv, UKR) - See the post above. However, it seems that it's not being streamed this year. Maybe tomorrow though?
          • Ongoing Spanish Indoor Championships (Madrid, ESP) - See the post above
          • USA Indoor Championships (Albuquerque, NM, USA)
          • Italian Indoor Championships (Ancona, ITA)
          • Polish Indoor Championships (Toruń, POL)
          • French Indoor Championships (Aubiere, FRA)
          • Romanian Senior & U23 Indoor Championships (Bucharest, ROU)
          • Irish Indoor Championships (Dublin, IRL)
          • British Indoor Championships (Birmingham, GBR)
          • German Indoor Championships (Dortmund, GER)
          • Czech Indoor Championships (Ostrava, CZE)
          • Dutch Indoor Championships (Apeldoorn, NED)
          • Swiss Indoor Championships (St. Gallen, SUI)
          • Conference USA (C-USA) Indoor Championships (Birmingham, AL, USA)- NCAA D1 conference; Most of the NCAA D1 conference championships are next week but this is one of a couple of decent ones this weekend. In this conference the sprints are stronger than most of the other events
          • Finnish Indoor Championships (Helsinki, FIN)
          • America East Conference Indoor Championships (Boston, MA, USA) - NCAA D1 conference; This is a solid conference across the board and includes universities such as Albany, Binghampton & UMass Lowell
          Saturday
          • RAK Half Marathon (Ras Al Khaimah, UAE) - WA Gold Label race; As always, there's loaded fields here. Especially in the Women's this year which includes Brigid Kosgei, Obiri, Senbere Teferi, Gotytom Gebreslase (and Samantha Harrison). The Men's race includes 5 sub-59 athletes such as Kennedy Kimutai & Daniel Mateiko
          • World Cross Country Championships (Bathurst, NSW, AUS) - Although the overall entry is weakened by the absence of most of Europe, the head of the fields are absolutely loaded
          late Saturday into Sunday
          • Kumanichi 30km Road Race & Kumamoto Castle Marathon (Kumamoto, JPN) - The 30km Road Race is the main event here with an elite field of 150 athletes. The Men's line-up is pretty good including a number of sub-28 / 28-low 10,000m athletes such as Yuki Sato, Kazuto Kawabata & Ayumu Kobayashi
          • International Track Meet (Christchurch, NZL) - WA Contintental Tour Bronze meeting; There's no startlists yet but from the Preview article it seems like there's some decent domestic fields with a number of New Zealand's top athletes competing
          • Umashikuni Mie Inter-Municipal Ekiden (Tsu to Isu, JPN) - This seems like a decent quality ekiden for ages from the top end of elementary school (10 & 11 yo's?) to over 40s
          • Japanese 20km & U20 Race Walking Championships (Kobe, JPN) - These are selection races for the World Championships & Asian Games. It almost goes without saying that the men's race is loaded! Missing are Yamanishi and Suzuki but pretty much everyone else is there. In the Women's race, sadly Sonoda & Kawazoe have withdrawn to focus on the 35km but still left are Japan's two best - Nanako Fujii and Kumiko Okada. There's also a group of three 20yo's who are showing good promise - Miyu Naito, Yukiko Umeno & Hitomi Shimoka. 2022 World U20 bronze medalist Ayane Yanai is making her 20km debut - she has a 45:21 10km best. The U20 races are quality too
          Sunday
          • Japanese University Mixed-Sex Invitational Ekiden (Osaka, JPN) - There's plenty of mixed-sex ekidens at the prefectural (state/county) level but this recent addition to the calendar is the only national mixed-sex ekiden in Japan. Although it's missing a few of the best universities, it's still a good quality event with a lot of top collegians running. Juntendo University (all blue strip) won the first 2 editions but not without a good battle last year with Chuo University on the last leg. By the way, the last leg is given as 5km but it seems a bit longer to me (given the times and the quality of athletes competing)
          • Barcelona Half Marathon (Barcelona, ESP) - WA Gold Label race; Like the RAK Half, the headline action could be in the Women's race with Joyciline Jepkosgei, Genezebe Dibaba & Irine Kimais. The Men's race includes 7 sub-60 athletes, headed by two-time reigning champ Haftu Teklu, as well as the likes of Richard Ringer & Phil Sesemann
          • Sevilla Marathon (Sevilla, ESP) - WA Elite Label race; It seems like this race is trying to equal Valencia for the depth of its fields although the top few aren't quite as strong as in Valencia. There's a load of different nationalities represented in the elite fields (including 3 British 2:30/31 women competing)

Phew, that's a mad 4 weeks over! Thankfully, it calms down again from now on. • Live streams/broadcasts for Wednesday 22nd February to Thursday 23rd February:

          Wednesday
          • DNA Indoor U20 Match (Madrid, ESP) - ESP v GBR v FRA v CZE v IRL v POR; It looks like the fields are competitive here with Spain & Great Britain the favourites to take the overall win
          • Memorial Josip Gašparac (Osijek, CRO) - World Indoor Tour Bronze meeting; International Pole Vault meeting; Whilst these aren't top fields it's an opportunity to see some good vaulters not often seen on the "circuit" such as Eleni-Klaoudia Polak (GRE), Sonia Malavisi (ITA), Caroline Bonde Holm (DEN) & Hanga Klekner (HUN). The Men's comp has a bit more star power with Lisek & Karalis heading the field
          • World Indoor Tour Madrid (Madrid, ESP) - World Indoor Tour Gold meeting
          Thursday
          • Maurie Plant Meet (Melbourne, VIC, AUS) - WA Contintental Tour Gold meeting; Although there's a decent number of nations represented, some of the fields are not very "Gold-ie". However, the Women's 1500 & 3000 do look very good and have benefited from athletes staying behind after World Cross. In the Men's Mile hopefully Centrowitz improves hugely on the pathetic 1:55 800 he ran in Adelaide 12 days ago! There's a few Brits competing including Alex Bell in the (!) 3000
          Thursday to Saturday
          • Mountain West Indoor Championships (Albuquerque, NM, USA) - Overall, this is a decent conference where the strength resides mainly in the distances, the Mile up to 5000; Unis in this conference include New Mexico, Boise State, Colorado State & Air Force

        • Live streams/broadcasts for events starting on Friday 24th February:

Re the NCAA D1 conference championships this weekend ... streaming for all the big ones is tied up by FloTrack and ESPN channels that we can't access for free on the internet.

          Friday to Saturday
          • Ongoing Mountain West Indoor Championships (Albuquerque, NM, USA) - See post above
          • Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Indoor Championships (Ashland, OH, USA) - NCAA D2 conference; This is quite a good conference with 2 nationally ranked Men's teams (Tiffin # 11 and Walsh, 13) and also 2 nationally ranked Women's teams (Findlay, 18 and Hillsdale, 22)
          • Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Indoor Championships (Alamosa, CO, USA) - NCAA D2 conference; At 2,299m altitude; This is one of the best two or three D2 conferences with 3 Men's teams ranked in the national Top 8 (headed by Adams State # 2) and a further 2 Men's teams in the Top 20. There's 6 of the Women's teams in the national Top 25 with four in the Top 14, headed again by Adams State at # 2
          Friday to Sunday
          • BUCS Indoor Championships (Sheffield, GBR) - The entry lists are massive in some events so, apologies, it's difficult to wade through and summarise. Anyway, I guess that you kind of know what to expect from these championships

Next major post tomorrow (Friday) evening for the weekend's streams including the Birmingham indoor Gold meeting, both the English National and Japanese Cross Country Championships, the Osaka Marathon, the Spanish 35km Race Walking Championships, the final leg of the World Cross Country Tour in Portugal, the Atlanta Half Marathon and much more.

Please note that, at the moment, any pages or documents hosted on an NCAA Conference website might only be available using a VPN set to the USA. Many/most of these sites use the same web platform and it seems that it's having issues at the moment. The websites providing the live streams are NOT affected.

        • Live streams/broadcasts for Saturday 25th February to Sunday 26th February:

          Saturday to Sunday
          • Ongoing BUCS Indoor Championships (Sheffield, GBR) - See post above
          • Czech U20 & U18 Indoor Championships (Ostrava, CZE)
          • German U20 Indoor Championships (Dortmund, GER)
          • French U20 & U18 Indoor Championships (Lyon, FRA)
          • French Winter Throwing Championships (Salon-de-Provence, FRA) - Alexandra Tavernier, Melina Robert-Michon & Yann Chaussinand are amongst the competitors here and it also includes a few foreign athletes such as Vanessa Sterckendries in the Hammer
          • Northern Sun Inter-Collegiate Conference (NSIC) Indoor Championships (Mankato, MN, USA) - NCAA D2 conference; This is another of the top D2 conferences, especially on the Women's side this year with 4 nationally ranked Top 25 teams, headed by Minnesota State, # 1 and Winona State # 9. For the Men, only Minnesota State (# 14) are in the national Top 25
          • The Summit League Conference Indoor Championships (Vermillion, SD, USA) - NCAA D1 conference; Despite having no teams ranked in the national top 25 this is a decent conference, probably around the average for D1. It includes the Dakota universities
          • Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Indoor Championships (Indianapolis, IN, USA) - NCAA D2 conference; This is a decent D2 conference, probably a bit above average, despite having few teams in the top rankings - only the Indianapolis (UIndy) women sneak into the national Top 25
          Saturday
          • Ongoing Mountain West Indoor Championships (Albuquerque, NM, USA) - See 2 posts above
          • Ongoing Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Indoor Championships (Ashland, OH, USA) - NCAA D2 conference; See post above
          • Ongoing Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Indoor Championships (Alamosa, CO, USA) - NCAA D2 conference; At 2,299m altitude; See post above
          • Golden Fly Series Bangkok (Bangkok, THA) - International PV & LJ street meeting; There's decent international fields for this including Anicka Newell, Matt Ludwig & Seito Yamamoto in the PV and Burks, de Sousa, Sumire Hata (JPN) & Cheswill Johnson (RSA) in the LJ
          • Spanish Winter Throwing Championships (Gavà, ESP) - There's some pretty good quality here for the long throws, including many of Spain's best such as Javier Cienfuegos, Lois Maikel Martinez and in the Jav, Manu & Nico Quijera
          • English National Cross Country Championships (Bolesworth Castle, GBR) - Sadly, this event continues to be a shadow of its former self, probably in the wrong place on the calendar these days to attract really strong fields. Here in the Men's race the Mahamed brothers race a field that also includes Phil Sesemann. Jess Warner-Judd is entered in the Women's as is Amelia Quirk. The Men's U20 race does look quite strong
          • Birmingham World Indoor Tour Final (Birmingham, GBR) - World Indoor Tour Gold meeting
          • Trofeo Ciudad de Zaragoza Indoor (Zaragoza, ESP) - There's variable quality in the events at this international meeting with the Men's 3000, Men's 60 and Women's PV probably the pick of the events
          • All Star Perche (Clermont-Ferrand, FRA) - World Indoor Tour Silver meeting; International Pole Vault Meeting; The fields are good without being amazing although Duplantis is competing. The Women's field is headed by the likes of Moser, Meijer & Kylypko
          Sunday
          • Osaka Marathon (Osaka, JPN) - WA Gold Label race; Not to be confused with the Osaka Women's Marathon that took place 3 weeks ago; There's quite strong fields here that include 4 men with recent sub-2:06 PBs, headed by Hailemaryam Kiros (ETH; 2:04:41 PB). Ayad Lamdessam, Eyob Faniel (ITA) & Stephen Mokoka add to the international interest. The fastest of the 6 sub-2:08 Japanese athletes entered is Toshiki Sadakata (2:07:05 PB). Vivian Kiplagat and Helen Bekele Tola head a good Women's field that also includes Lisa Weightman (AUS) and a couple of Japanese women with 2:25 PBs from 2022 - Ikumi Fukura & Rie Kawauchi. Places on the startline for October's MGC - the Japanese Marathon Olympic Trials - continue to be up for grabs but the qualifying system is too complicated to explain here! However, you may be able to get a sense of the system from the Preview article linked in the document. In the year or so since the qualification window opened just 28 men and 16 women have qualified so it's a tough race to get into
          • Japanese Cross Country Championships (Fukuoka, JPN) - The fields are decent but not particularly deep by Japanese standards. They include star Steepler Ryuji Miura and Daichi Kamino in the Men's race and Haruka Yamaguchi (prolific amateur marathoner with a 2:26 PB) & Hibiki Onishi in the Women's race
          • Breaking Records in NMBM 50km (Gqeberha (new name for Port Elizabeth), RSA) - WA Elite Label race; This is the world's leading 50km road race and the scene in 2021 of the Men's & Women's World Records and also the Men's World Record last year; This year's fields are reportedly strong but mostly unfamiliar to me, although Sweden's veteran Hanna Lindholm is making her ultra debut
          • Spanish 35km Race Walking Championships & U20, U18 & U16 Autonomous Federations Championships (Cieza, ESP) - Spain is always one of the strongest race walking nations and these races are pretty loaded domestically with, I think, only three of their best missing
          • Castellón Marathon & 10k Castellón (Castellón, ESP) - both WA Label races; The 10km looks like the stronger of the 2 races here but since the live stream starts 20 minutes after the 10km starts we might not get to see that race. Just in case, the Men's race features a host of good Kenyans and Jimmy Gressier whilst Faith Kimutai, Alina Reh and Rino Goshima (JPN) are amongst the Women - see, I mentioned elsewhere on the forum that the Japanese are competing much more abroad these days! In the Marathon, the Ethiopians look like the main contenders with Abraham Girma Bekele (2:06:48 PB) and Sashu Insermu (2:23:28 PB) the fastest in their fields. In the Women's race Algeria's 9:25 Steepler, Amina Bettiche, makes her marathon debut after a 71:38 Half last November
          • Cross das Amendoeiras em Flor AKA Almond Blossom Cross Country (Albufeira, POR) - World Cross Country Tour Gold meeting; It has to be said that this is one of the weaker Gold meetings on the World XC Tour. Having said that, the Women's race isn't bad, headed by Likina Amebaw (ETH), Sarah Lahti, Elena Burkard & Majida Maayouf (MAR) who was a strong winner of the Spanish Cross Country Championships recently. The Men's race includes Yann Schrub, Ireland's Efrem Gidey and Younes Kniya (MAR)
          • Cross Nacional Castellano Manchego - Manuel Goya Burgués Memorial (Quintanar de la Orden, ESP) - As always there's strong domestic fields for this, especially this year in the Men's race that includes Hassaous, Chiki Perez, Bascuñana, Javi Guerra, Carro & the breakthrough Spanish XC athlete of the winter, Sergio Paniagua. The Women's field is headed by a strong trio of Spain's best in Sanchez-Escribano, Luengo & Barreiro, the first two not content to end their cross country season after being Spain's top two at Worlds last weekend!
          • Atlanta Half Marathon (Atlanta, GA, USA) - WA Label race; This is quite loaded with domestic athletes barely getting a look in. Josphat Tanui (59:22 PB) heads 4 sub-60 men lining up and Cynthia Limo (66:04 PB) leads the Women's field; From what I've read the live stream is going to be a professional production and will include TV regular Carrie Tollefson amongst the commentators
          • Guadalajara International Half Marathon (Guadalajara, MEX) - WA Gold Label race; No idea of who's racing this year but usually this is a good event, won last year in 61:20 and 69:12
          • USA Half Marathon Championships (Fort Worth, TX, USA) - There's decent fields for this, amongst them Molly Seidel, Nell Rojas, Aliphine Tuliamuk, Lauren Paquette, Leonard Korir, Futsum Zienasellassie, Abbabiya Simbassa & Scott Fauble
All the details and links at https://www.dropbox.com/s/an271gz2d1...02-26.odt?dl=0

Yes, I don't include the official NHK links now because whenever I watch them they have a large section of the screen permanently covered with text. I think it's to encourage people to pay money for the NHK Plus service. Do let me know if your experience is different though. (And yes, it does require a VPN)
99% of the time the unofficial NHK link I include works very well (no geo-blocking) and with very good picture quality too. But obviously it won't be available on-demand at that link.

I ended up watching the replay of the Osaka Marathon on NHK plus after creating a free temporary 30 day account. The full account may require payment though, but I was really happy to watch the race with no text message covering the screen once I'd done that.
