  • Live streams/broadcasts for Wednesday 13th July to Friday 15th July:

    Wednesday
    • Hokuren Distance Challenge Round 4 (Abashiri, JPN) - This series continues and I can't believe we're already at Round 4! This time there's good 5000m 'A' races but the stand-out races are the 10,000 'A' races. The Men's race features 16 sub-28 athletes including Justus Soget. Japanese men's 10,000m running hasn't really caught fire so far this year but maybe that will start to change here? The Women's race has 15 athletes who've run 32:15 or better. Pauline Kamulu might run away with it but these live streams are usually very good for showing you plenty of what's happening behind a lone leader. After having a tough 2021, Tokyo Olympic marathoner Honami Maeda might be the form Japanese athlete in the field having run a 68:28 Half ten days ago. Also to watch out for are Sayaka Sato (herself a 2:23 marathoner and 31:30 at this distance) and Ai Hosoda & Rika Kaseda, both improving athletes with 31:39 bests
Friday 15th to Monday 25th (UK time)
    • World Championships (Eugene, OR, USA)

Next major post on Friday evening for the weekend's events including Round 5 of the Hokuren Distance Challenge, the Balkan U20 Championships, Round 3 of the Women's Challenge Grand Prix Series 10k (RSA), the USATF Men's 8km Road Championships and probably the England Athletics U20 & U23 Championships. Yes, I know all eyes will be on the World Championships but I'm still going to post these other streams too. Who knows, on one of those days without a morning session in Eugene (evening coverage for us) you might want to dip into something else!

    • Live streams/broadcasts for Saturday 16th July to Sunday 17th July:

A lot of age group championships this weekend and the last round of the Hokuren Distance Challenge - I love that it's rapid fire meetings every few days but I hate that it's over so quickly!

      Sorry, no teaser notes today.

      • Ongoing World Championships (Eugene, OR, USA) - Listing included again in document linked below

      • Live streams/broadcasts for Saturday 23rd July to Sunday 24th July:

        Saturday to Monday (UK time)
        • Ongoing World Championships (Eugene, OR, USA) - Listing included again in document linked below
        Saturday to Sunday
        • AAI Games incl Irish Open 10,000 Championships (Tullamore, IRL) - WA Continental Tour Challenger series; Largely domestic but there's a few decent international fields here, e.g., in the M 800, 1500 & W 100 Hurdles, and a number of Aussies spread around the events
        Saturday
        • Nového Města nad Metují Grand Prix (Nové Město nad Metují, CZE) - No full confirmed fields yet but the domestic entry is good and there's due to be around 60 international athletes competing as well, including a couple of good Chinese HJ'ers and maybe Magnus Kirt
        • Louyet Flanders Cup (Huizingen, BEL) - As usual at these Belgian Flanders Cup meetings there's a cast of very decent athletes from all around the world in the track events
        • Manchester Trafford BMC Grand Prix Round 4 (Trafford, GBR) - Good fields here especially in the 800s that feature the likes of Giles, Webb, Pattison & Staines and, in the Women's, Boffey, Sarah Billings (AUS), Nadia Power, Cristina Balan (ROU) & Jenna Bromell (IRL). Caterina Granz (GER) is in the 1500. The Women's 5000 is one of the most loaded I've seen at a BMC meeting, including a lot of good domestic athletes (Thackery, Ockenden, Harrison, Fry, Walker, Alice Wright etc) and a couple of good internationals in Marta Garcia (ESP) & Georgia Hansen (AUS). The Men's 3000SC is quite good too

Next major post possibly on Sunday evening for EYOF - the European Youth Olympic Festival. If not, definitely on Monday evening for Tuesday's Jyväskylä Games (FIN), GP Söderhamn (SWE) - both of those WACT Challenger meetings - and the historic Giro Podistico di Castelbuono road race in Italy.

        • Live streams/broadcasts for Monday 25th July to Tuesday 26th July:

          Monday to Saturday 30th
          • European Youth Olympic Festival AKA EYOF (Banská Bystrica, SVK) - This is for U17s; Many European countries take this very seriously and so it's pretty much a legit/worthy European Championships for this age group with one proviso - there's no British team in the athletics (but there is in other sports)
          Tuesday
          • Jyväskylä Games (Jyväskylä, FIN) - WA Continental Tour Challenger series; Some meetings over the next week or two will suffer from their proximity to major championships and I think that's the case here. However, there's still a good Women's HJ and a few decent international events such as the Men's 110 Hurdles & the Women's 100 Hurdles. The Women's 3000SC isn't bad in a "Trying to get enough points on the board for Munich, maybe even a standard" type way (the qualifying window closes on the same day). The Women's 1500 sees the return from injury of Sara Kuivisto and could be a competitive race if she's not super-sharp
          • GP Söderhamn (Söderhamn, SWE) - WA Continental Tour Challenger series; There's a few pretty good fields here such as the 1500 that includes Giles & Copeland, the W 800 featuring some good 20 & 21yo's from Spain & Sweden as well as Gajanova (SVK), a competitive W 100 Hurdles and a fairly good W Triple Jump; Bondarenko & Ghazal face off in the HJ and Charlie Dobson goes in the 400. There's also a number of Singaporean sprinters competing, I guess getting a last race in before the Comm Games
          • Giro Podistico di Castelbuono (Castelbuono, ITA) - WA Label race; Men's International 11.34km (10 laps of 1.134km); This historic race, first run in 1912, is another "laps through the Old Town race" that they do so well in Italy and elsewhere in central Europe; There's a pretty good field that includes Justus Soget, Benson Kiplangat, Isaac Kibet, Abraham Tadesse and good Italians in Ilias Aouani & Italo Quazzola

The live stream for EYOF is excellent - TV quality with all the on-screen graphics you need. It's without commentary but it does have the stadium announcing, quite a bit of it in English.

I'm still waiting to see if it will be archived on Slovak TV for on-demand viewing.

            Friday to Saturday
            • Ongoing European Youth Olympic Festival AKA EYOF (Banská Bystrica, SVK) - See 2 posts above; Included again in the document below for convenience
            • Baltic Team Championships AKA President's Cup (Valmiera, LAT) - LAT vs EST vs LTU (2 athletes per nation in each event); I always enjoy these championships. Put the 3 nations together and there's quite a lot of good athletes competing; Belarus usually have a guest team competing but obviously they're a big no-no at the moment

            • It turns out that the England Athletics Senior Championships are live on YouTube. I don't know what England Athletics were playing at saying it was streaming elsewhere. Links in the latest document above.

              • The next 2 DLs may contain a sense of anti climax with some interesting field event quality.I will be very surprised to see the sprints equaling the WC standards in the DL. Maybe by early September the top athletes on the track will be ready to perform. One World , two regional and DL,; bet the athletes will be happy for 2023.

                  • Commonwealth Games (Birmingham, GBR)
                  Tuesday
                  • Meeting Internazionale Città di Nembro (Nembro, ITA) - WA Continental Tour Challenger series; This is always a nice little meeting, this year with athletes from 33 nations competing. In the W 3000 I'm interested to see what shape Nadia Battocletti is in ahead of Munich. Izzy Fry, Verity Ockenden & Francine Nyomukunzi (BDI) are also in that race. The M 3000 (incl Emile Cairess) looks like a competitive affair as does the M 800. In the 100H, Luminosa Bogliolo goes against Brissett & Crystal Morrison (JAM)

                    • Live streams/broadcasts for Saturday 6th August:

The Norgeslekene WACT Challenger meeting in Jessheim (NOR) is being live streamed but I've not listed it here because the fields aren't great (domestic-only and missing nearly all their best athletes).

                      Saturday
                      • Spar Women's Challenge Grand Prix Series 10k - Round 4 (Tshwane, RSA) - The fourth round of 6 in this nice series. The good prize money for individual races and for the overall series keeps the top runners coming back for every round. So, Helalia Johannes, Tadu Teshome (21yo ETH 2:23 marathoner; called Tadu Nare by the South Africans) and Selam Fente Gebre (19yo ETH) are all back again. Johannes won Round 1 but Teshome (Naru) turned the tables in Rounds 2 & 3. Gebre was third in all 3 of those races. The domestic entry is headed by Glenrose Xaba (1:09 half marathon PB) and Irvette van Zyl. In the last round there was a big bunch at the front past halfway
                      • Kamila Skolimowska Memorial - Silesia Diamond League (Chorzów, POL)
                      • Internationales JOSKO Laufmeeting (Andorf, AUT) - The Women's fields are stronger than the Men's here with the highlight probably being the 200 with Laviai Nielsen, Line Kloster, Susanne Walli & Martina Hofmanova (CZE)
                      • Meeting Brazzale (Vicenza, ITA) - There's a few decent fields at this little international meeting including the Women's 400 and Triple Jump
                      • Ongoing World U20 Championships (Cali, COL) - For convenience, the listing is included again at the bottom of the document linked below
