Live streams/broadcasts for Saturday 26th August to Sunday 27th August:

I hoping to be back home by early afternoon on Saturday but in case I'm not, here's the streams for the weekend. By then I should be able to fill in some missing detail/links.

Hopefully I can add Sunday's Mexico City Marathon (WA Gold Label race) to the roster and maybe also the Hokkaido Marathon in Sapporo.

    Saturday to Sunday
    • Final 2 days of the World Championships (Budapest, HUN) - See the post above
    Saturday
    • The Monument Mile Classic (Stirling, SCO, GBR) - WA Continental Tour Challenger meeting; Now that this is a Challenger meeting it has its strongest fields yet for the Elite races. Running the Women's race are Courtney Frerichs, Sara Lappalainen (nee Kuivisto), Erin Wallace, Yolanda Ngarambe & Anna Connor (USA) as well as youngsters like Sarah Calvert and Ava Lloyd. The Men's race includes Alex Botterill, Vincent Keter (KEN; 3:31.3 1500 PB recently), Kane Elliott, Sam Blake (GER), Santu Heikinnen (FIN) & Tom Dodd
    • Giro delle Mura Città di Feltre (Feltre, ITA) - International Men's 9.5km road race (9 laps of 1050m) & the "Running Seven Laps" elimination relay; There's no word yet on the fields for this but they're usually pretty good for both the Men's road race (another laps around the old town race!) and the "Running Seven Laps" race. Some past high-profile participants in the "Running Seven Laps" elimination relay won't be available (otherwise engaged in Budapest) but there's still enough decent Italians, Kenyans & Ugandans at home who might compete in it. This "Running Seven Laps" race is a really fun event - an elimination race with 9 or 10 relay teams of 2 pro mid-distance athletes (one M, one F). On each "lap" both members of the team run in relay up and down the hill (approx 500m loop course) ... Then, after each lap, the race stops, they eliminate the last team and then the remaining teams, having got some breath back, start again about a minute later. The seventh "lap" is the final lap where the race is won. Be aware, this stream is not available to watch on-demand
    Sunday
    • Run Your City Tshwane 10k (Tshwane, RSA) - International road race; From the info out so far the Men's field features some top domestic athletes including Mashele & Galant whilst the Women's race is a bit more international including Docas Ajok (UGA) - remember her? Former 800m athlete - Debash Desta (ETH; 31:42 PB) and Neheng Khatala (LES; 32:06 PB) as well as home hopes Gerda Steyn & Glenrose Xaba
    • Antrim Coast Half Marathon (Larne, NI, GBR) - WA Elite Label race; Both races are quite loaded. There's 8 sub-60 Men entered including Mateiko, Yimer, Legese & Nibret Melak. The lesser-spotted Callum Hawkins is also due to toe the start line. The head of the Women's race is less deep but still includes 4 women who've run faster than 66:10 including Genzebe Dibaba and Zeineba Yimer

The next major post will be on Tuesday 29th for the following day's Zürich Diamond League Women's Pole Vault in the Train Station as well as possibly a couple of other meetings and for Thursday's Zürich Diamond League itself.

Live streams/broadcasts for Friday 18th August to Sunday 20th August:

    late Friday into Saturday
    • Falmouth Elite Mile (Falmouth, MA, USA) - M + W track miles; There's good fields for the 2 elite races with the likes of Schlachtenhaufen, Dani Jones, Donaghu, Barton & Ejore in the Women's and Ciattei, Engels, Centrowitz, Gregorek, Amon Kemboi, Wynne & Josh Thompson in the Men's
    Saturday 19th to Sunday 27th
    • World Championships (Budapest, HUN)
    Sunday to Wednesday
    • East Asian Youth Games (Ulaanbaatar, MGL) - There's 6 nations competing in the athletics at this U18 event including China, Korea & Japan. Japan's team of 8 is small compared to China, Korea & Hong Kong's but it's good quality with athletes such as Sari Kamei (Girls' 800; PB 2:06.59) and Wakushi Narukawa (Boys' 100 & 200; PBs 10.41 & 21.03)
    Sunday
    • Rio International Half Marathon (Rio de Janeiro, BRA) - I don't know which international athletes are competing but the domestic entry is quite good
    • Falmouth Road Race (Falmouth, MA, USA) - 7 miles; WA Elite Label race; The line-ups are strong for this 51st running of one of the top road races in the US. Hellen Obiri, Vicoty Chepngeno & Cynthia Limo should be contending and the domestic challenge is led by Sisson, Kelati & Fiona O'Keeffe. The Men's field is headed by recent Beach to Beacon winner Addisu Yihune (ETH), Wesley Kiptoo, Yemane Haileselassie (ERI) & Edwin Kurgat and augmented by Americans such as Mason Ferlic, Kirubel Erassa & Sam Chelanga. There's 4 Japanese athletes entered (2 men & 2 women) including the recent Asian Championships 10,000m silver medalist, Momoka Kawaguchi. She has a 31:57 PB on the track

Because I'm going to be away for a few days with not much time for internet-ing, the next major post will be on the evening of Monday 21st for the events on the weekend of the 26th & 27th. These include the Monument Mile Classic in Scotland (Conti Tour Challenger), the Giro delle Mura Città di Feltre road races in Italy (including the "Running Seven Laps" elimination relay race), the Hokkaido Marathon in Sapporo and the Antrim Coast Half Marathon (WA Elite Label).

Haruka Kitaguchi possibly a late addition to the Women's Javelin?? The stadium announcer has just shouted her name!

EDIT: She's there but just spectating it seems (wearing a T-shirt & jeans).

    Saturday
    • Sierre-Zinal (Sierre to Zinal, SUI) - World Mountain Running Cup Gold Label race; 31km race of the "Five 4000m Peaks"; There's strong fields for this famous race celebrating its 50th running. Amongst athletes competing who are familiar from the track or roads are Nienke Brinkman (Dutch marathon NR-holder) & Allie Ostrander; Last year the live stream for this was pretty good
    • L. Louyet Meeting (Huizengen, BEL) - WA Continental Tour Challenger meeting; There's some pretty good fields here. For example, in the Women's 100 Maribel Perez, Yasmin Kwadwo, Georgina Adam, Rosalina Santos (POR), Jura Levy & Nikola Bendova. There's a few high-profile Americans competing in the mid-distances - Hocker, Teare, Schweizer & Josette Andrews. Eleven Brits are due to compete including Jodie Williams (200 & 400)
    • Home Nations 5k International (Cardiff, GBR) - This includes national teams, composite teams (e.g., Adidas) and club teams and the line-ups are pretty good. Heading the Women's field are Calli Thackery, Jenny Nesbitt, Beth Kidger & Ellie Wallace. Athletes toeing the line in the Men's race include Tom Mortimer, Dewi Griffiths, Omar Ahmed & Jonathan Hopkins

Live streams/broadcasts for Saturday 5th August to Sunday 6th August:

    Saturday to Sunday
    • Days 5 & 6 of Chengdu 2021 FISU World University Games a.k.a. Summer Universiade (Chengdu, CHN) - Included again in the document below for convenience
    • Days 2 & 3 of the Pan American U20 Championships (Mayagüez, PUR) - Included again in the document below for convenience
    Saturday
    • 2nd day of the Baltic Team Championships a.k.a. President's Cup (Valmiera, LAT) - LAT vs EST vs LTU; See the post above
    • SPAR Women's Challenge 10km Grand Prix Series - Round 5 (Tshwane, RSA) - The first 2 rounds of this year's series weren't live streamed and so I dropped these races from these listings. However, Rounds 3 & 4 were live streamed so I feel confident listing this series again. These races bring together many of South Africa's best against 2 or 3 very good athletes from elsewhere in Africa and the prize money per race and for the overall series is pretty good. In this round Tadu Teshome (always called Tadu Nare during this series) & Selam Gebre face the likes of Glenrose Xaba, Cian Oldknow, Irvette van Zyl and Lesotho's Blandina Makatisi who took her NR down to 32:17 when finishing 4th at the Durban leg in June
    • Grand Prix Malmö (Malmö, SWE) - WA Continental Tour Challenger meeting; Whilst this meeting isn't strong across every event there are some good line-ups, most notably in both the 800s (Kramer, de Arriba, English & James Preston in the Men's) and the Men's Discus. There's a total of 9 Brits due to compete in the main programme of events, including Gemili, Awuah & McAulay
    Sunday
    • The 2023 World Athletics Trials in Fuji Hokuroku (Fujiyoshida, JPN) - Japan GP series; Sprints, hurdles & field meeting at approx 1000m altitude (near Mount Fuji); Just to be clear ... These are not Japanese trials for Budapest (a bit late for that!) but I guess there's no copyright on the phrase "World Athletics Trials"! Anyway, there's some good line-ups here, most notably featuring 19yo sensation Hiroki Yanagita in the Men's 100, fresh off his Asian title in 10.02. Rachid Muratake goes in the Men's 110 Hurdles, a week after a 13.18 PB in his first comp back after 2 months of injury. Currently all 16 lanes of the 2 section Men's 400 Hurdles final are set to be filled by a Japanese athlete who's run sub-50 recently, headed by the bespectacled Kazuki Kurokawa (48.68 PB). There's no real stars in the Women's events but they do look competitive
    • Javelin Meeting Offenburg (Offenburg, GER) - WA Continental Tour Bronze meeting; Despite the presence of Weber & Vetter in the Men's comp, the Women's line-up looks more interesting. Headed by Haruka Kitaguchi it also features Tori Peeters, Muze, van Dyk, Hussong, Mitchell & Rani
All the details and links at https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/e676n...7gbr5gezj&dl=0

Next major post on Sunday evening for the start on Monday of both the European U20 Championships and the Commonwealth Youth Games and also for Tuesday's Conti Tour Bronze meeting in Tampere (FIN).

    Friday to Saturday

    Friday to Sunday
    • Days 4 to 6 of Chengdu 2021 FISU World University Games a.k.a. Summer Universiade (Chengdu, CHN) - Included again in the document below for convenience
    • Pan American U20 Championships (Mayagüez, PUR) - The line-ups for many of the events here look pretty good
    Friday
    • Final day of the Francophone Games a.k.a. Jeux de la Francophonie (Kinshasa, DRC) - See 2 posts above
    • Stabhochsprungmeeting Jockgrim (Jockgrim, GER) - International Pole Vault meeting; There's really good fields here, the Women's including Murto, Kennedy, McCartney, McTaggart & Caudery whilst amongst the Men there's Ersu Sasma (TUR), Karalis, Marschall, Lisek & Stecchi
    • CITIUS Meeting (Bern, SUI) - WA Continental Tour Bronze meeting; This is always a good meeting and this year's edition looks no exception. All the line-ups are good and some of them are very good indeed. For example, the Women's 100 Hurdles includes Amoi Brown, Talie Bonds, Pia Skrzy, Visser, Kambundji, Jenneke, Lavin & Gravesgaard. There's a total of 13 Brits due to compete in the Main Programme

Yeah, have noticed this before. In the Winter they had a home games so genuinely did select the NCAA best in every event, but here it seems to be completely random

Yeah, I wonder how many of the Americans actually made it to the NCAA Championships, let alone the NCAA final?

Yet the Americans seemed to be utter nobodies, so go figure!

Germany, Turkey. Poland, Portugal & Australia are amongst other nations who seem to have sent strong teams.

Catching up with FISU from this AM - standards are patchy but pretty much top teams from `China. Japan, India, Brazil, South Africa & a good selection of known names from small European countries like van der Weken, Foster etc, so it’s worth a watch.
