  • Live streams/broadcasts for Wednesday 2nd February to Thursday 3rd February:

Three very nice meetings over the next couple of days.

    Wednesday
    • Udin Jump Development (Udine, ITA) - International High Jump meeting; Good fields here. The Women's competition includes Levchenko, Demireva, Junnila (FIN) & Apostolovski (SLO); Amonsgt the Men's field are Ivanyuk, Protsenko, Zayas & Ivanov
    • Gran Premio Internacional Ciudad de Valencia (Valencia, ESP) - International indoor meeting; This looks like a good meeting (and the streaming was excellent last year). A lot of good Spaniards are competing and they're augmented by a contingent of good athletes from Portugal, Italy, Kenya, Burundi, Qatar, Argentina, Lithuania, Cyprus, Chile & Britain (Jamal Rhoden-Stevens & Dewi Hammond); It's all covered very well in the Preview article linked in the document
    Thursday
    • Czech Indoor Gala (Ostrava, CZE) - World Indoor Tour Silver meeting; No startlists for the Main Programme yet, but from the various news articles (linked in the document) the fields look good and include a number of Brits, e.g., Giles & Copeland in the 1500, Tracey in the 1500 & Knight in the 400
All the links & details at https://www.dropbox.com/s/zudi2t6raz...02-03.odt?dl=0

Next major post on Thursday evening for Friday's ISTAF Indoor Berlin and the Capital Classic in Wellington, NZL (WACT Challenger series).

    • VPN recommendation for geo-blocked streams

I don't know why I haven't done this before but maybe some of you want to watch some of these really good meetings that are geo-blocked but don't know where to start with a VPN.

The free Hola browser extension used to work well but is now limited to just one hour's use and a long wait before you can use it again. Also, the VPN in the Opera browser is very limited and doesn't allow you to specify countries. So, the simplest and most reliable option is to pay for a VPN. Fortunately, I have a good and affordable recommendation below!

I use NordVPN - https://nordvpn.com/ - and I can truly say it's excellent, very easy to use and very reasonably priced if you go for the best value option - currently discounted at £3.05 per month if you get a 2 year plan (you pay the 24 months up front).
If you're a member of a cashback site like TopCashback you can get a further hefty chunk of this back in cashback by purchasing via the cashback site's link. Currently TopCashback are providing a whopping 76.5% cashback (it's legit!) which would mean you effectively only pay £17.21 for 2 years' VPN service! (The cashback was 'only' 40% when I purchased it).

To use NordVPN, you just open the desktop app and click the country you need from the list on the left left-hand-side. It connects in a few seconds and the connection speed isn't discernably different than my usual internet connection. I've never had any issues with it. There's also an app for smartphones too.

OK, I hope that helps someone. If you have any questions, please ask.

      • Live streams/broadcasts for Friday 4th February:

        Friday
        • Capital Classic incl NZL U20 Mile Championships (Wellington, NZL) - WA Contintental Tour Challenger series; Again domestic-only but some good athletes are competing. It's all covered pretty well in the Preview linked in the document
        • ISTAF Indoor Berlin (Berlin, GER) - World Indoor Tour Silver meeting; Short sprints & hurdles, Men's PV & Women's LJ; Good fields including some top athletes such as Duplantis, Mihambo, Jacobs, Nelvis & Tapper

Next major post tomorrow evening (Friday) for a really busy weekend of indoor, cross country, road racing and race walking!

        • Live streams/broadcasts for Saturday 5th February to Monday 7th February:

It's a busy old weekend with plenty of choice and variety! I'm hopeful that a couple more events will also be streamed (including 2 good Spanish road races). If so, I'll notify you in a new post.

There's still some info missing for some of this weekend's events. As usual, I'll fill that in in the document over the course of the weekend.

If you haven't already seen it, see my post 2 posts above about my recommendation of a very reasonably priced VPN (so you can watch all those geo-blocked meetings).

          Friday into Saturday
          • Sola Power Throws Meet (Wellington, NZL) - WA Contintental Tour Challenger series; No idea who's competing here!
          Saturday to Sunday
          • Italian U23 & U20 Indoor Championships (Ancona, ITA) - Although some of Italy's best U23s (e.g., Battocletti & Arnaudo) aren't here, there's still plenty of good athletes on show including Larissa Iapichino, Vittoria Fontana and in the distances, Federico Riva and Ludovica Cavalli
          • Indoor Combined Events (Tallinn, EST) - World Combined Events Tour Silver meeting; Decent fields, especially in the Women's comp which has Huntington, Sulek, Holly Mills and Ligarska; Uibo & Zhuk are amongst the Men's field; UPDATE - Listing removed because it's Pay-Per-View (2.99 Euros)
          Saturday
          • Dynamic New Athletics Indoor Match (Glasgow, GBR) - ENG, SCO, WAL, IRL, ESP & POR; World Indoor Tour Bronze meeting; The meeting has lost some of its star power with Laura Muir withdrawing but Spain & Portugal have sent good teams
          • ? Hustopečské skákání (Hustopeče, CZE) - International High Jump meeting; World Indoor Tour Bronze meeting; Strong fields here with Mahuchikh headlining the Women's comp. Emily Borthwick & Laura Zialor are also entered; 12 of the 15 men's entrants have jumped 2.30 or higher
          • Dr Sander Invitational (New York, USA) - World Indoor Tour Bronze meeting; There's a few decent fields here, e.g., Dani Aragon & Yolanda Ngarambe in the Mile and Ryan Hill, Robby Andrews & Festus Lagat in the Men's equivalent. GB's Ben Greenwood is in the 800
          • Camel City Elite (Winston-Salem, NC, USA) - Indoor 800, Mile & 3000; Not the strength of fields of previous years - possibly it's suffered this time from being on the same weekend as 2 big meetings in New York and while the prize money is competitive with those meetings, the world ranking points aren't; Still, there are some good athletes competing (both pro & collegian). Murphy and Tonatiu Lopez go in the 800 along with Yusuf Bizimana. Murphy is also in the Mile with Charlie Grice. The Women's 800 features Ajee Wilson & Lipsey. Sam Atkin is in a competitive 3000
          Sunday
          • Beppu Oita Mainichi Marathon (Beppu-Oita, JPN) - Domestic-only this year but there's a lot of fast Japanese men competing (six sub-2:09), led by Shuho Dairokuno (2:07:12 PB here last year)
          • South American Race Walking Championships (Lima, PER) - Race Walking has become a real strength for South American athletics; No startlists yet but from what I've seen a few of their absolute best might be missing. However, given South America's depth in RW there's still likely to be some pretty strong fields; When these championships were streamed 2 years ago at the same venue the coverage wasn't great but it was OK and it was watchable (I've seen a lot worse, such as last weekend's Mexican race walking stream!)
          • European Champion Clubs Cup Cross Country (Oeiras, POR) - Good fields here; In the Men's race there's a number of good Spaniards, Kwizera (BDI), Bour (FRA), Oscar Chelimo, Aouani (ITA), Yemane Haileselassie and the favourite, Jacob Kiplimo, just to name a few; In the Women's race Steph Twell runs along with the likes of Fancy Cherono, Likina Amebaw (ETH), Michelle Finn, Jessica Augusto & Carla Salome Rocha; There's a number of very good names in the mixed relay too
          • Rochlitzer Kugelstoß-Meeting (Rochlitz, GER) - International Shot Put meeting; OK fields here including Schwanitz, Gambetta, Arnaudov & Bayer
          • RIG Games AKA Reykjavik International Games (Reykjavik, ISL) - World Indoor Tour Challenger series; Not sure how strong the fields will be here (no entry lists yet) but Ealey & McKinna are in the W Shot
          • Copa Brasil Indoor (Bragança Paulista, BRA) - No entry lists for this yet but from what I've read many of Brazil's best male sprinters will be competing and I believe it's an important selection meeting for the South American Indoor Championships in 2 weeks' time
          • New Balance Indoor Grand Prix (Staten Island, NY, USA) - World Indoor Tour Gold meeting
          Monday
          • Cross della Vallagarina (Villa Lagarina nr Rovereto, ITA) - World Cross Country Tour Bronze meeting; Actually taking place on Sunday but being broadcast on TV a day later; The 2nd & 4th from last weekend's Cinque Mulini are in the Men's race - Levy Kibet & Tadesse Tekele - along with a few other Africans and David Nilsson too; The Women's race features the 3rd & 4th from Cinque Mulini, Klara Lukan (SLO) & Lucy Mawia Muli, as well as Francine Niyomakunzi (BDI) who won Amorebieta and was 3rd in Soria earlier in the season

Next major post on Monday evening. On Tuesday I'm going away for a few days so that post will cover several streaming meetings happening from Tuesday to Friday. I'll then post again on Friday evening for the weekend's events.

At the Camel City Elite meeting I was confused by Rachel Schneider's change of name (now she's Smith). She's in both the Mile and the 3000.

        • Now linked in the latest document above are videos of the 7 pro/invitational races from the first of today's indoor meetings in the USA.

Videos for the other USA meeting are perhaps coming around 11pm tonight?

        • Live streams/broadcasts for Tuesday 8th February to Friday 11th February:

As mentioned in the last major post I'm away until Friday and so I'm posting what I know for the live streaming events until then. Over this period I'm unlikely to have the opportunity to make any updates or additions to the info already in the document below.

As you'll see below, the Catalunya & BMC indoor meetings are not certain of being streamed.

          Tuesday
          • Victorian Milers Club Meet #4 (Melbourne, AUS) - 800m & Mile incl Vic Mile Championships; No doubt about it, the highlight here is Linden Hall vs Catriona Bisset in the 800
          • ? International Meeting de Catalunya (Sabadell, ESP) - As usual there's good international fields in most of the mid-distance 'A' races here (so I hope it is streamed). The Men's 800 could be the race of the night and includes Barontini, Riseley, Nziwinkunda (BDI), Smaili, Hethat, Sedjati (ALG) & Elias Ngeny (1:43.8 last year)
          Wednesday
          • International Pole Vault Invitational (Uppsala, SWE) - World Indoor Tour Challenger series; This is Mondo Duplantis's own meeting (Men's comp only) and includes himself, Kendricks, Nilsen, Lightfoot, Braz, Obiena & Lisek
          • ? BMC Indoor Meeting (Lee Valley, GBR) - 800m & 3000m; No idea of who's competing here
          Friday to Sunday
          • Polish U20 & U18 Indoor Championships (Rzeszów, POL) - Full coverage of this on YouTube and, as always, the Poles have some good up-and-coming talents
          Friday
          • Orlen Cup (Łódź, POL) - World Indoor Tour Silver meeting; Short sprints/hurdles & field; No startlists yet but their Facebook page is drip-feeding some of the main athletes - Jacobs is in the 60 and in the 60 Hurdles are Ortega, Eaton & Czykier

          • Live streams/broadcasts for Saturday 12th February to Sunday 13th February:

Apologies for the relative lateness of this post and sorry, I haven't got time for teaser notes tonight. Except to say that the Metz meeting (on Polish TV - VPN needed) looks very good and the Agnes Tirop XC Classic is insanely loaded! Very nice fields too at the Dortmund meeting and there's quite a few Brits competing there - no geo-blocking for that meeting.

A reminder, in case you haven't seen it yet, there's info on an excellent and very affordable VPN 6 posts above this one.

            Saturday to Sunday
            • Ongoing Polish U20 & U18 Indoor Championships (Rzeszów, POL) - see 2 posts above

                  • Live streams for events starting on Friday 18th February:

                    • Victorian State Championships Weekend 1 (Melbourne, VIC, AUS) - Ditto, including an intriguing match-up in the 1500 between Abbey Caldwell & 16yo mega-talent Claudia Hollingsworth; Part 2 of the Championships is next weekend
                    • BUCS Indoor Championships (Sheffield, GBR) - No time to peruse the entry lists but you kind of know what you're getting with BUCS anyway

Another great weekend for live streams! I haven't provided teaser notes for the German or Czech age-group indoor championships. You probably already know whether they're something you're likely to watch or not.

                        Friday to Sunday
                        • Ongoing New South Wales Open & U23 Championships (Sydney, NSW, AUS) - see 2 posts above
                        • Ongoing Victorian State Championships Weekend 1 (Melbourne, VIC, AUS) - see 2 posts above
                        • Ongoing BUCS Indoor Championships (Sheffield, GBR) - see 2 posts above
                        Saturday
                        • Ras Al Khaimah Half Marathon (Ras Al Khaimah, UAE) - WA Elite label race; As always, this race is loaded with stars! There's 9 sub-59 athletes in the Men's field, including Jacob Kiplimo, #4 A-T Mutiso & Walalegn, with a load more sub-60 and the Women's race includes Obiri, G Dibaba, Yeshaneh, Sheila Chepkirui & Eilish McColgan amongst others; Sadly, unless a live YouTube/Facebook stream appears, it will only be possible to watch it live at 3am and not on-demand
                        • Müller Indoor Grand Prix (Birmingham, GBR) - World Indoor Tour Gold meeting
                        • All Star Perche (Clermont-Ferrand, FRA) - World Indoor Tour Silver meeting; International Pole Vault Meeting; The Women's field looks like the pick here, with Sidorova, Nageotte, Zhuk, Sutej, Moser, Polak & Ninon Chapelle (nee Guillon-Romarin). The Men's field includes both Lavillenie's, Karalis, Vloon & Marschall
                        Saturday to Sunday
                        • German U20 Indoor Championships (Sindelfingen, GER)
                        • Spanish U23 Indoor Championships (Salamanca, ESP) - Some decent fields here and several of Spain's rising stars are competing, e.g., Enrique Llopis, Maria Vicente (LJ), Bernat Erta (400), Pol Oriach (3000), Xenia Benach (60H) & Andrea Romero (3000)
                        • Finnish Indoor Championships (Kuopio, FIN) - There's some decent events here, primarily the sprints and some of the jumps, e.g., the W HJ is often good at Finnish meetings with Ella Junnila, Sini Lällä & Heta Tuuri. The Finnish TV broadcasts are always excellent
                        • Czech U20 & U18 Indoor Championships (Ostrava, CZE)
                        • South American Indoor Championships (Cochabamba, BOL) - At 2550m altitude! A lot of the events have a good top 2 (e.g., Constantino & Pereira in the M 60H) but after that the quality drops off; All events are straight finals
                        Sunday
                        • Japanese 20km Race Walking Championships & U20 Race Walking Championships (Kobe, JPN) - In the Men's race the battle should be between World Champ Toshikazu Yamanishi and Eiki Takahashi (Koki Ikeda is sitting this one out) and as usual there's a ton of depth on the startline; In Women's Japanese RW there's less depth but the very good NR-holder Kumiko Okada is racing (Nanako Fujii has withdrawn) and Kaori Kawazoe (PB 1:31:10) continues her quest to go sub-1:30 so that Japan can take 3 women to Eugene (the Japanese standard is harder than the WA standards). There's always a ton of talent in the U20 races
                        • Sevilla Marathon (Sevilla, ESP) - WA Elite label race; Live on YouTube; I'm very excited to see what Jess Piasecki can do here after her recent 67:20 half! She's up against a number of 2:21-2:24 Ethiopians and I expect her to be in the mix at the front just like she was at that Santa Pola Half 3 weeks ago; Can she even win her 2nd international marathon (after Florence 2019)? If she runs the 2:21/22 she's capable of, she has a good chance; OK, enough of my fanboy-ing! Both the Men's & Women's races are pretty loaded. In the Men's there's 23 sub-2:08 runners, including Sondre Moen, Ghirmay Ghebreslassie, a truckload of other East Africans & Ayad Lamdessam (attacking the 2:06:35 Spanish record along with Dani Mateo & Javi Guerra) and in the Women's there's 24 sub-2:30 athletes, headed by Alemu Megertu, Sentayehu Lewetegn & Tinbit Gidey; There's some good debutantes too, like Awet Habte (ERI) & Miriam Dattke. There's also a load of Brits running, no doubt all shooting for 2022 major championships standards
                        • ? Guadalajara International Half Marathon (Guadalajara, MEX) - WA Elite label race; Limited info on the elite fields has been released but included in the Men's race ar Benson Kipruto (2021 Boston winner) & Juan Luis Barrios and in the Women's Linet Chebet (UGA) who won the Guadalajara Martathon last year
                        • ISTAF Indoor Düsseldorf (Düsseldorf, GER) - World Indoor Tour Silver meeting; Good fields here with Eva Swoboda, Mihambo, Visser & Kendricks the star names competing
                        • CrossCup de Hannut (Hannut, BEL) - World Cross Country Tour Gold meeting; In the Women's race Olympic Steeple champ Peruth Chemutai lines up alongside her compatriot Prisca Chesang (2nd in the very good Elgoibar race last month). Beatrice Chebet is running her 6th World XC Tour race of the season - she has 4 podiums so far but no wins (to be fair she's been racing the hardest races to win!) Also entered are Likina Amebaw (ETH) - 5 World XC Tour races this season, reaching the podium 3 times at some of the less-loaded races although she did win the European Clubs Cup race 2 weeks ago - and Lucy Mawia Muli who's raced 7 World XC Tour races this season with 3 podiums including a win in Soria; The Men's race is pretty decent too, including 18yo Rogers Kibet (UGA) who was 3rd in Elgoibar, Samuel Fitwi, Ibrahim Ezzaydouni (ESP), Britain's Mahamed Mahamed, and two very good 18 year-old Eritreans - Samuel Habtom who was 5th at Cinque Mulini 3 weeks ago and Merhawi Mebrahtu, 4th in Venta de Banos in December; Elise Vanderelst is among the entrants in the short races, also being broadcast, though last weekend in Diest she was pipped in a photo finish by Jenna Wyns (also entered here)

The fields at the Guadalajara International Half Marathon were much better than they let on in the limited pre-race elite athlete info! As well as Benson Kipruto the Men's race included a number of other Kenyans including Shadrack Kimining. The Women's field also included Besu Sado, Naom Jebet, Janet Ruguru & Pauline Chemning.

                      • I think the Birmingham GP is also set to be on the red button on BBC.

Thanks. Bit late in adding it to the schedule weren't they?!

I think it was the first of a number of meetings on the red button that the BBC announced a week or two ago.
