  • Live streams/broadcasts for Tuesday 7th December to Wednesday 8th December:

Cross Country on a Wednesday. Get in!
    😀

    Tuesday
    • Victorian State 5000m Championships (Melbourne, VIC, AUS) - Not great fields this year but, hey, we've got track and field in December!
    Wednesday
    • Cross Nacional Ayuntamiento de Cantimpalos (Cantimpalos, ESP) - Decent international fields here. In the Men's race one of the stars of the World Cross Country Tour, Rodrigue Kwizera (BDI), goes up against his compatriot Thierry Ndikumwenayo who he lost very narrowly to at the Cross San Juan Evangelista on Sunday. Yemane Hailesselasie (ERI), Zakaría Boufaljat (MAR but transferring to ESP) & Toni Abadia should also be at the sharp end. Chiqi Perez, possibly the strongest of the Spaniards competing, is apparently well-peeved that he wasn't selected for the European XC Champs this coming weekend; In the Women's race Liv Westphal (FRA) should be the favourite and faces many of the best Spaniards not going to Dublin such as Cristina Espejo, Beatriz Alvarez, María Jose Perez & Azucena Diaz

Course Titzé de Noël (Sion, SUI) - International road races - W 5km & M 7km; Another in the series of lap races around Swiss old towns; The Women's race includes most of the leading athletes from last weekend's race in Geneva - winner Feliciana Jepkosgei, Fabienne Schlumpf, Helen Bekele Tola, Gladys Jemaiyo & Sammary Cherotich. Caterina Granz (GER) is also entered; In the Men's race, last week's easy winner Boniface Kibiwott returns to face the likes of Dominic Lobalu, Tadesse Abraham, Erick Ndiema & Sylvester Kipchirchir; Streaming yet to be confirmed though it's usually live on Facebook
      • Eastbay Cross Country Championships (San Diego, CA, USA) - One of two US High School national XC championships; This is formerly the Footlocker Championships
      • Melbourne Marathon (Melbourne, AUS) - Brett Robinson is the most accomplished in the Men's field but Riley Cocks and Ed Goddard are expected to go well on their marathon debuts; In the Women's race Eloise Wellings (2:29:42 debut in London recently) faces Milly Clark (2:28 PB), both aiming I expect for the 2:29:30 Worlds standard
      • USA National Club Cross Country Championships (Tallahassee, FL, USA) - W 6km & M 10km; The fields are large here and featured in the Women's race are Natosha Rogers, Annie Rodenfels (15:08 indoors last weekend), Nikki Hiltz, Carrie Verdon, Alexis Zeis & Olivia Pratt; The Men's line-up includes Sidney Gidabuday, Tyler McCandless, Abe Alvarado, Zach Panning & Josef Tessema

      • Live streams/broadcasts for Sunday 12th December:

Still hoping for streams of 2 or 3 more events to be confirmed, including a really loaded Bahrain Night Half Marathon.

        Sunday
        • Málaga Marathon (Málaga, ESP) - WA Label race; A strong Men's line-up with 7 sub-2:08 men (5 of them sub-2:07) headed by Marius Kimutai & Mark Korir; In the Women's race Caroline Cheptanui Kilel is the fastest in the field by over 5 mins with a 2:22:34 PB
        • European Cross Country Championships (Fingal-Dublin, IRL) - No need to tease this up!
        • Bahrain Night Half Marathon (Manama, BRN) - I could list names here and then keep on listing names! Just check out the entry list - this race is absolutely loaded, for both the men & women's fields

          • Live stream for Thursday 16th December:

            Thursday
            • Victorian Milers Club Meet #2 (Box Hill, VIC, AUS) - 800m & 1500m; There's always good competition at these meetings; The Women's 1500 'A' race is probably the strongest event with Abbey Caldwell (4:07 PB), Jaylah Hancock-Cameron (4:12 PB), 16yo Amy Bunnage (4:14 PB) & Rebekah Greene (NZL; 4:14 PB). 16 year-old sensation Claudia Hollingsworth is also in that race. With her 2:01 800m PB and 2:36 for 1000 she should be set to obliterate her 1500m PB of 4:35 set two years ago.

              • NSW Milers Meet #1 (Georges Hall, NSW, AUS) - 400m, 800m, Mile & 400m Hurdles; The first of 5 meetings in this series that runs until March; There's some decent and competitive-looking fields in the 'A' races here
              • German Cross Country Championships (Sonsbeck, GER) - There's some good names competing here, e.g., Alina Reh, Domenika Mayer, Vera Coutellier, Samuel Fitwi, Johannes Motschmann & Simon Boch
              Saturday into Sunday
              • Taipei Marathon (Taipei City, TPE) - WA Elite Label race; I've read that there's 12 international athletes competing here (after undergoing self-isolation) but there's no mention of who they are
              Sunday
              • Cross Internacional de Venta de Baños (Venta de Baños, ESP) - WA Cross Country Tour Gold meeting; Nice fields here including the star of the World Cross Country Tour so far - Rodrigue Kwizera - Nibret Melak, Eva Cherono & Edinah Jebitok and some good Spaniards competing again after Dublin last weekend, such as Carlos Mayo & Laura Luengo

            • Live streams/broadcasts for Sunday 26th December to Monday 3rd January:

For all the races I'll only list the stream & race start times and stream links but no entry lists, previews or teaser notes. All these events are quality so should have good fields.

Around the 3rd January I will update the document with any on-demand video links that are available.

I hope everyone has a great time at Christmas!

                • Live broadcast for Thursday 6th January:

                  Thursday
                  • Campaccio International Cross Country (San Giorgio su Legnano, ITA) - WA Cross Country Tour Gold meeting; The first of 3 Italian meetings on the Tour; The Women's field looks the more interesting, including Dawit Seyaum who has had a return to form (she seems to be targeting the 5000m from now on), Beatrice Chebet & Eva Cherono. The U23 1-2 in Dublin, Nadia Batocletti & Klara Lukan (SLO), should be battling for the honour of first European; The Men's field, however, has suffered somewhat from several high-profile withdrawals in the last few days (reasons unknown to me). There's still some very good athletes competing though; I believe the TV broadcast is also showing the Short races (both 3.2km) before the main international races - I don't know who is entered in those 2 short races

                    Saturday (videos available on Sunday)
                    • USA Cross Country Championships (San Diego, CA, USA) - A strong field in the Women's race here with Kelati, Monson, reigning champ Rogers, Seidel, Infeld and Verdon; The Men's race should be dominated by a contingent of US Army athletes and Ben Blankenship also competes; Both senior races are 10km
                    Sunday
                    • Cross Internacional Juan Muguerza (Elgoibar, ESP) - WA Cross Country Tour Gold meeting; Just as at Campaccio on Thursday the Women's race looks like the pick of the 2 senior races with a loaded field. Beatrice Chepkoech, Beatrice Chebet, Senbere Teferi & Edinah Jebitok are amongst the top contenders there. Carolina Robles leads the domestic contingent and Britain's Kate Holt is also competing; Heading the Men's field are Nicholas Kimeli, Getnet Wale & Campaccio winner Addisu Yihune. Hassaous & Mechaal are the most prominent Spaniards and going for Britain are Will Battershill & Matthew Stonier
                    • 10k Valencia (Valencia, ESP) - WA Label race; Good fields here and featuring is an attack on Paula Radcliffe's 30:21 European Record by Karoline Grovdal (her PB is 30:32). Norah Jeruto heads the Women's field; There's several Brits competing including Phil Sesemann, Mahamed Mahamed, Steph Davis & Charlotte Purdue

                      • Live streams for meeting starting on Friday 14th January:

Free live coverage of the NCAA "regular season" will be very piecemeal. All the best meetings get snapped up by Runnerspace, FloTrack or are on ESPN-affiliated channels not available for free online.

We should, however, be able to watch several of the Conference Championships again (late February) and the national NCAA championships of course.

The best of the D2 meetings all seem to be pay-per-view now (e.g., 10 dollars (!) for each of those good Missouri Northwest meetings that were free last year).

                        Friday & Saturday
                        • Graduate Classic (Lincoln, NB, USA) - NCAA D1 & D2 meeting hosted by the Uni of Nebraska; Some OK fields here
                        Links & details at https://www.dropbox.com/s/8yfv4lpzoa...01-14.odt?dl=0

Next major post tomorrow (Friday) for Saturday & Sunday's action on the roads, country, indoor track & hopefully Race Walking.

                        • Live streams/broadcasts for Saturday 15th January to Sunday 16th January:

                          Saturday to Sunday
                          • Palaindoor National Meeting (Ancona, ITA) - The first of several streamed meetings in Ancona over the next 3 weeks; The Men's 1500 is the standout event with Yassin Bouih, Giovanni Filippi & Federico Riva and in the other events there's a lot of good young athletes (the entries cover seniors down to U18)
                          Saturday
                          • DNA Clubs U20/U18/U16 Indoor Meeting (Valencia, ESP) - 6 mixed-gender teams competing here in 7 events culminating in "The Hunt" - a handicapped mixed relay of 4 legs of 1000, 800, 600 & 400
                          • DNA Clubs Senior Indoor Meeting (Valencia, ESP) - Same format as for the junior match above; There's some good athletes competing here including Paula Sevilla (60m), Leticia Gil (LJ), Maria Belen Toimil (SP) and a strong Men's 400
                          • ongoing Graduate Classic (Lincoln, NB, USA) - see post above
                          Sunday
                          • All Japan Inter-Prefectural Women's Ekiden Championship AKA The Empress's Cup (Kyoto, JPN) - Teams representing each of Japan's 47 prefectures line up for this and each team is a mix of pros, Uni athletes, High School athletes and the best amateurs; This race is always loaded with talent and this year is no exception with the likes of Seira Fuwa, Ririka Hironaka, Nozomi Tanaka, Mao Ichiyama & Yuka Ando all due to run. I expect those 5 (Tanaka excepted?) will run on the longest leg, the final 10km leg, and Kayoko Fukushi's 30:52 leg record should be under threat from Fuwa and maybe Hironaka too
                          • Italian 35km Race Walking Championships (Pescara, ITA) - Although there's no Stano, Palmisano or Giorgi here, the fields for the 35km & 20km races are still pretty good featuring the best of the rest in Italy (the 35km races are the only races with national titles on the line); The Men's 35km is particularly strong with plenty, including Stefano Chiesa and Francesco Fortunato (35km debut), capable of getting major champs standards given the right conditions; The World Champs & European Champs standards for 35km are 2:33/2:35:30 for the men and 2:54/2:55 for the women
                          • Cross Internacional Ciudad de Valladolid (Valladolid, ESP) - Nice line-ups here. In the Women's race Tsige Haileslase (ETH; 15:18 & 32:39 PBs; although she's also entered in Houston below), Aimee Pratt, Sara Moreira, Caterina Ribeiro, Lidia Campo, Blanca Fernandez & Beatriz Alvarez should all place highly; The Men's race looks competitive with a decent field including Dani Arce, Raul Celada who had a breakthrough 2021, David Bascuñana & Rui Pinto (POR)
                          • Houston Marathon & Half Marathon (Houston, TX, USA) - WA Elite Label races; Competitive looking fields here with 4 men at 2:08 or better and 4 sub-2:24 women including Atsede Baysa & Keira D'Amato; The half marathons probably have more overall depth and include the likes of Sara Hall & Shadrack Kimining; 4 Brits are due to make debuts - Jess Judd (Half), Alice Wright (Full), Luke Caldwell (Full) & Emily Kearney (Full)
All the links & details at https://www.dropbox.com/s/renkn38sl4...01-16.odt?dl=0

The quality of coverage for this weekend's NCAA meeting in Nebraska is poor, so I won't list any more of their home meetings this season. I remember watching one of their meetings last year and the coverage was much better.
