Live streams/broadcasts for Tuesday 8th September:

What a treat we have tomorrow evening - quality athletics from 3 WA Continental Tour meetings in Ostrava, Rovereto and Dessau-Roßlau. It may well be the best single day of athletics so far this summer, and so I'm dubbing it "Terrific Tuesday"!

They do all clash a bit so if you want to watch Dessau-Roßlau and one or both of Ostrava & Rovereto, my advice is to watch Dessau-Roßlau live and then the others afterwards on-demand (both on YouTube) since MDR don't seem to archive their live streams for very long.

Golden Spike (Ostrava, CZE) - WACT Gold meeting; Many of these fields are stacked! I wouldn't know how to start within the limits I set myself here so I'll just say there's tons of world stars and loads of top Europeans with 11 Brits including Muir, Reekie, Courtney, Knight, Wightman & Giles; Oh, and Mr Warholm is effectively against the clock again in the 400H
International Meeting "ANHALT 2020" (Dessau-Roßlau, GER) - WACT Bronze meeting; This is always a good little meeting and even this year, being directly up against Gold & Silver meetings, they've still managed to put together some good line-ups, especially in the field; W LJ - Mihambo, Mironchyk, Bekh & Rotaru, W HJ - Mahuchikh, Levchenko & Geraschenko, M Jav - Vetter & Hofmann and a pretty good M PV field; Other highlights include Laviai Nielsen going in a decent 400 and in the 800 Isabelle Boffey against a good field headed by Lyakhova, Hering, Eykens & Kuivisto
Palio Città della Quercia (Rovereto, ITA) - WACT Silver meeting; I'd say the fields are, in general, solid without being spectacular but there's still enough here to pique my interest; However, the W 800 is definitely good (a bit of a theme this summer) with Keely Hodgkinson, Hynne, Butterworth, Power, Bello' & Vandi; Pozzi goes in a pretty good 100H and there's 4 other Brits competing here; In the 400 Anita Horvat will be running her 368th race of the season

Poznań Athletics Grand Prix (Poznań, POL) - This meeting was a good little addition to the circuit last year; This year some of Poland's best are competing as well as a fair sprinkling of international athletes including Lina Nielsen & Jessica Turner (both 400H), Kristal Awuah (100), Amelia Strickler, Tracey & Bell (both 800) and, in a good men's 1500, George Mills & Piers Copeland
Filothei Women Gala (Filothei, Athens, GRE) - Not as strong or international as usual but still includes a few international athletes such as Gabriela Petrova and Marija Vukovic; The meeting ends with a Charity Long Jump which will feature PVer Nikoleta Kyriakopoulou, TJer Voula Papachristou, hurdler Elisavet Pesiridou & the winners of the 4 other events on the programme
P-T-S Meeting (Šamorín, SVK) - WACT Silver meeting; The fields for the women's events are stronger than the men's with a pretty decent 400 and 800 & a strong 400H featuring Slott Petersen, Zapletalova & Ryzhkova; Christian Taylor & Max Heß in the TJ; 9 Brits competing including Laviai Nielsen, Cindy Ofili & Shelayna O-C

Hanžeković Memorial (Zagreb, CRO) - WACT Gold meeting; A really loaded 800 is the stand-out event with Rowden, Wightman, Giles & Burgin amongst a total of 10 Brits set to compete here
Galà dei Castelli (Bellinzona, SUI) - WACT Bronze meeting; Always a super little meeting and this year it's as good as the Zagreb meeting I'd say (with more of a track focus); Wayde Van Niekerk makes his return in the 400 and elsewhere there's strong line-ups pretty much across the board including Barega, Lewandowski & Girma in a 1500 along with Copeland & Lay; Tortu & Simbine in the 100; In the W 800, Reekie, Hynne, Buchel, Cichocka & Lore Hoffmann (down from 2:02 to 2:00.5 in the last 2 weeks); Schippers, Del Ponte, Hunt & Awuah in the 100; Bol & Sprunger at 400H; Visser, Bogliolo & Harala in the 100H; 9 Brits due to compete

Wednesday

Kladno hází a Kladenské memoriály (Kladno, CZE) - WACT Bronze meeting; Some decent fields here, especially in the long throws & the W HJ; A few B/C-list Brits competing

Golden Gala Pietro Mennea - Rome DL (Rome, ITA) - live (it says) on BBC2 though the timings don't seem to fit with the meeting timetable, so possibly "tape-delayed" or the broadcast time will be adjusted?

Japanese Inter-Corporate Championships (Kumagaya, JPN) - I haven't yet perused the startlists but I did first read a Japanese preview before remembering that JapanRunningNews would have a preview. Anyway, these championships look really good! This is no surprise really because, post-University, virtually all of Japan's top athletes (& East Africans) compete for companies rather than clubs; The 'A' races for the 5000s and 10,000s immediately caught my attention - they are loaded with most of the best Japanese and some pretty good Kenyans! Included in the Women's 5000 are two very talented Japanese 19 year olds who I've written about before on this forum - Ririka Hironaka (15:05 last year) and Kaede Hagitani (15:06 at the last of the Hokuren DC meetings this July). Either or both might soon be joining Nozomi Tanaka in a quest to break the NR, 14:53.22.

Alytus International Race Walking Festival (Alytus, LTU) - European Race Walking Permit meeting; Good field in the Men's 20km including Perseus Karlstrom, Christopher Linke & Callum Wilkinson. The Women's 20km field is less strong but still includes a few good athletes; Athletes from 12 European nations competing

The YouTube streaming link for the Alytus Race Walking has been added to the document. It starts at 3.30pm today.

I don't know how good the coverage will be but often with non-TV coverage of race walking it helps to be prepared with startlists at hand if you want to follow along well. Especially given that today the Men's 20km AND Junior 10km start at the same time THEN 5 mins later the Women's 20km & Junior 10km starts - All on the same 1 km loop course! It can seem a bit chaotic if you're not mentally "tuned in".
Hopefully though, 1) the Seniors will have different bib colours to the Juniors and 2) there'll be names on bibs.

I'll post again tonight with a further 5 events streaming this weekend.

Balkan Championships (Cluj-Napoca, ROU) - Missing a few of the biggest names of Balkan athletics but there's still some decent fields here, bolstered in part by a strong Ukrainian team. Ukraine was admitted to the Balkan Athletics Federation 2 or 3 years ago and it now numbers 21 member federations despite there only being (depending on who you speak to) 10 or 12 Balkan nations! All events are straight finals (some timed section finals) except the 100m
Chinese (Autumn) Race Walking Championships (Tai'an, CHN) - No need to name athletes in the best national race walking championships in the world; Suffice to say it's a who's who of current Chinese race walking!

Saturday

Gouden Spike (Leiden, NED) - This is usually a decent meeting but there's much fewer international entries than usual; However, the 10,000s they traditionally hold look fairly good (these also double as the Dutch Championships). In the men's there's recent 12:51 man Nicholas Kimeli, big improver Mike Foppen, and Solomon Boit. The women's race includes rising Dutch 21yo Diane Van Es (ready for a 32-low 10,000 I think) and Sarah Lahti (SWE) who was also a rising 21yo when she ran 31:28 at Rio 2016 but is now on the comeback trail after lots of injuries in the last 2-3 years
Spanish Championship of Autonomous Federations (Cuidad Real, ESP) - Similar idea to our Inter-Counties but the similarities stop there because a lot of Spain's top athletes actually turn up for this resulting in some good fields, e.g., the women's 1500 includes Esther Guerrero, Marta Perez & Solange Pereira - Perez looked in good shape winning the Spanish 5000m champs last week but she might struggle to cope with Guerrero who's been flying this year

Next major post on Monday night if there's streaming for Tuesday's international meeting in Barcelona. It was streamed in 2018 but not in 2019, so who knows?

Aha, more live Race Walking on Saturday & Sunday ... We've only got the best of all the national championships - the Chinese (Autumn) RW Championships! And all their stars are competing (the women's 50km specialists are even dropping down to the 20km).

It's all on Chinese TV - details & links have been added to the document above. The two 20km races are on at a good time for us.
