Thursday to Sunday
- Kantō Region University Championships (Sagamihara, JPN) - The Kantō region (the Greater Tokyo area) contains over a third of Japan's population and so these championships are pretty good quality. There's good fields in many of the events. For examples, star steepler Ryuji Miura goes in the 5000 but he probably won't have it all his own way since there's several faster athletes also entered. The Women's 5000 includes 2 current collegiate champions, 5000m champ Sarah Wanjiru and 10,000m champ Risa Yamazaki who ran 2 seconds faster than Wanjiru's PB at the Nobeoka meeting last week. There's also a number of other good athletes entered in this race. Both Yamazaki & Wanjiru are also entered in the 10,000
- The Summit League Conference Championships (Fargo. ND, USA) - NCAA D1 conference; The quality here is around about average for a D1 conference (maybe a bit below) and it includes all the Dakota universities
- Ongoing Southeast Asian Games AKA SEA Games (Phnom Penh, Cambodia) - See the post above
Next major post tomorrow (Thursday) evening for more NCAA D1 & D2 Conference Championships, the Kansai Region Corporate Championships in Japan and possibly the Kalamata Street Pole Vault meeting in Greece. At the weekend there's live streams for 3 of the biggest NCAA D1 conferences - the Pac-12, SEC & AAC.
