This is a real problem for her and UK Athletics. All this on top of losing £2m, the VAT man demanding unpaid tax on the Nike kit deal, Neil Black and the Salazar scandal, failing to meet their medal target and an increasing dissatisfaction with the governing body. Performance coaches have been asked to make savings and I think more will be devolved to the Home Nations. No wonder Stephen McGuire decided to stay with Scotland.

Perhaps they might like to start with saving £300,000, ie the salary! £300K, honestly it is obscene.... how many grassroots training sessions could be organised for that? Please don't tell me about the economics of hiring 'talent' (I have a degree in Economics) and if the allegations of the Times article are found to be accurate, then they might well be looking to hire someone else very soon, with no doubt, a lawsuit on their hands as ZHP claims something or other under employment law... a farce.

She's not starting on 1st December. Though I'm not sure from the press release if that means "not at all" or "delayed start, not on 1st december".

They may have known about her husbands ban from teaching. IMHO that of itself should not bar her from the office. The bigger issue is the apparent issues around the disclosure of his ban etc at Coventry, which (even if she was not the safeguarding officer or a decision maker as Vice Chair) she had a duty to be absolutely transparent about. That's a gross failure of judgement.

They've managed to appoint a new chief exec, someone from outside athletics: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/athletics/51498574
