Hi. Actually, it all depends on your goals. As for stamina, skipping rope is a great tool here. You can look through some before-after pictures where athletes show their results. Btw, you should also use smart scales for tracking your results. I am currently using these https://www.vont.com/product/smart-s...-weight-scale/. I also have the same scales in the gym. Anyway, tracking your results is crucial. So, I guess skipping rope is the best option here. Btw, you could also try swimming. As for running, I’d say it’s really dangerous. It also harms your joints, so I don’t recommend this kind of cardio. I hope I’ve helped you.
Which are the best cardio exercises for an athlete and is it important to engage a personal trainer?
I'd say sport specific excercises are always the best - i.e if you're playing something like rugby or american football then stuff like heavy carries/powercleans can be very good, as well as bench pressing or OHP for upper body strength. If you're a runner then something like quarter squats with emphasis on explosive power are usually a go-to.
